Hey guys, new to this section of the forum. I just started smoking cigars again i haven't had one since college and picked up the makers mark seasoned cigars after a friend recommended it to me. I really like them but want to branch out to some new ones. Can anyone recommend me some new ones to try. Thanks

My favs,broken down by price:

Top tier: Padron, 1929 or 1964 - $20-$30
Upper midrange: Ashton VSG (my everyday/desert island smoke) -$14-$16
Midrange: CAO flathead, 770,Cameroon,American -$8-$11
Lower end: Romeo (the Romeo/Julieta red/white label) - $7

Most of those are medium- to full-bodied

Do you want suggestions for infused or regular cigars?

If you liked the Makers, you’ll Probably like Acids. Pick up a sampler and give them a try

Can’t speak for flavored cigars but for me a few of my go to smokes are

1.Artuero Fuente Flor Fina 8-5-8 maduro wrapper $120 for box of 25
2. PDR small batch reserve cubra rosado petite robusto for those nights where I want a 30 minute smoke $130 for 20
3. Artuero Fuente curlyhead deluxe maduro wrapper running about (very much underrated cigar suitable for daily smoke) $70 box of 25
4. LA Estrella Cubana robusto Connecticut wrapper box of 20 runs about $50 ( much better after aging a few months)

These are all solid medium body smokes for me. I’m a middle of the road guy price wise and smoke these on regular basis. Yeah I have some high end sticks in the coolerdor but these are some basic go to cigars for me.

Any cigar will smoke better with some time in your humidor as a lot of retailers tend to ship cigars wet and they need time to stabilize at proper humidity levels

Enjoy

Hard to go wrong with Artuero Fuente.

CAO, Cain, Perdermo, Tatuaje, Alec Bradley, La Gloria Cubana, St Louis Rey, Drew Estate (Liga Privada, Under Crown) all solid cigars.

Lots of folks like the Gurrka, but I have been told by several as well secretly by my B&M to pass them by so I have never tried them. Rocky Patel is another highly advertised brand that I would pass on. They make ok cigars priced reasonably but all seem to have the same/similar profile and I have found do not get any better with age. YMMV of course.

My suggestion, try a real cigar.  Not smokable sugar.

Excellent analogy...

I'm a fan of H Upmann by AJ Fernandez, Liga Undercrowns, Liga 9s, Liga T-52s

Figured he’d like the Acid line from Drew Estate because he enjoyed the Makers Mark cigar. Still a quality stick, while giving him some of that added sweetness and flavor.

I think my favorite all time Cigar was a Cuban H Upmann, but I’ve not tried any of the non Cuban H Upmann’s. I should give one a Try. I’ve also heard Liga’s are great as well. I’m just starting to get back into cigars myself, been over 10 years and a lot has changed.

Those are all of my favorites except the Tatuaje which I've never tried. I'll have to move that to my short list.

This sub forum is about as expensive as the gun forums

I really enjoy the Liga Privada T52. I also enjoy the various “pigs” they make.

The undercrown shade grown is a great mild smoke.

The Muestra De Saka Nacatamale is outstanding.

There are some really good short smokes out there. The “gorilla warfare” is one of my favorites.

Find a good shop and have them walk you through the flavor profiles. Try a few of each and you will settle on a profile you like.

Enjoy!
