If I have the misfortune of connecting with a 50BMG, I'd rather explode.

Not sure stopping it really helps. At 15+ kJ, that's about 50 times as much energy as a punch. That's going to produce pretty substantial internal trauma even without penetration.
|
|
Maybe I’m wrong but the Kinetic energy from .50 cal @ 1000 (4000+ ftpds) yards would fuck you up even with no penitratipn.

PLA NCO’s make 2200 a year? Wow. View Quote Btw, the Tibet garrison duty gets 2.5-3x the basic pay. The Southsea island garrison, the Xinjing duty get 2x the pay. |

They're gonna die anyways from whiplash.
Also, I don't think I want to know how China tested this product. |

The Taiwanese have a Level III hardplate that is .25 inch thick and only weighs 2.2 pounds.
But, it will not stop 5.56mm M855 so they didn't try to sell in US....... |

I wonder how much graphene costs.
If you can up-armor a vehicle with graphene/carbon fiber plates, that would be a major weight savings over steel plates. |

Pretty sure even if that vest manages to stop a round center mass it won't to shit for the internal damage and it'd probably stop your heart lol.

You would probably die from the blunt force trauma that a .50 would create even if the round was stopped.

A bunch of people on here have said they identify as an attack helicopter.

I wouls like50 or so 4' x 8' Graphene panels , 3/8" thick ...
I'd do my bedroom first, and then line my exterior walls. |

The story is about the Chinese doing ballistics tests with graphene to add armor to the cockpit of the Chinese Z-10 attack helicopter, which pretty much looks like a reverse-engineered Apache AH-64.
The picture of a mannequin with a vest and helmet made people "think" they are going to use the graphene plates in body armor. arfcom gone arfcom But this last paragraph... The manufacturer said they could make this in to SAPI size vest insert for under 6.5 pound per plate, I am assuming it's in 20mm thickness. Which seems to be heavy to me. As for the cost, the maker being an aerospace company said it will be very expensive. Something about costing half a year of salary of a PLA NCO, which will make it $1100+ for a set of body armor inserts. .... says they can make plates for body armor use. So, you could insert a 0.78" into a custom-made plate carrier and be able to get hit with a .50 BMG that won't penetrate, but in reality, it would be useful for SWAT and other tier 1 operators to take on 5.56 and 7.62 rounds. |

1) There's no article linked in the OP.
2) The OP specifically mentions vest inserts. Is that not for human use? Don't tell us we didn't fucking read it. It's pretty clear. |
