I`m trying to remember a kit I had many, many years ago.

Time frame was either very late 1960`s or very early 1970`s.

The kit was a scifi spaceship plastic model, plastic was a crimson color, had crew figures included and came with a short comic book showing the craft and crew in action. I remember the craft was, to me at least, very cool and high tech looking.

I`ve tried to find it on various scale model forums and in the archives at Fantastic Plastic and haven`t had any luck.

It is not a kit from AMT, Monogram, and it came from a Kmart way back in the day so I doubt it was any high end imported kit.

Any chance this limited info rings a bell with any modelers or collectors here?

Was it the Spindrift from Land of the Giants?

Need more info. From a TV series?
General shape of the model? Back in the 70s asked my dad to get the USS Seaview but instead he bought the alien cruiser with a shuttle bay. Because it used glow-in-the-dark plastic it took over the role of the Romulan cruisers in my play battles vs The Enterprise. What threw my dad off was the Alien cruiser had a conning tower.

It also occurs that the Spindrift looks similar to the flying sub.

Not the Land of the Giants or Flying Sub.

I seem to recall the comic story line that came with the kit was either the spacecraft was used by pirates or used to bring pirates to justice.

Was not an Aoshima or Bandai kit.

Was not based on any TV or film.

That`s it! Knowing the correct kit name I was able to find some information on it.

Looks like it was issued in 1968.

It was a reboxing of 2 older Revell kits,  the XSL-01 Moon Ship Glider (1957), and the Convair Space Shuttle (1959)

It seems to be a little hard to find now my quick search on Ebay shows them at an asking price of $200.00 and up.
