I found a partial extract recipe only, but it had 4AAU Hellertau for bittering and 0.5 Magnum for aroma. If Cinci cream equals Cincinnati cream ale that is.

Im guessing not, as this is from canada and the cans state "cream lager"

Only difference twixt an ale and lager is yeast and fermenting temps, brew wise.

Take any ale kit or recipe, use a lager yeast and lager temps, you got a lager, and vice versa.  A cream ale can become a cream lager.

I brew the Brewer's Best cream ale semi frequently.  I am tempted to lager it.  I only have an igloo, water and ice though.  Worked for my only other lager.

Edit. Just checked the recipe from BB.  1oz Willamet at 60, another ounce at ten.

If you don't have the ability to lager try using steam yeast. I did it for my wife's red lager clones I used to make for her.

Never had that beer probably to young. But the can and product of Canada reminds me of carling black label. I wonder if they are from the same brewery

I can lager just fine. Trying to come up with the grain and hops bill just by an old memory is the challenge.   I've got MKII lagering now.

I’m going to start my next cream ale kolsch hybrid soon . I can lager but i decided to use wlp029 for my cream beers for now . I’m getting good results so far with no detectable eaters or off flavors when fermented in the high lager range and I’m getting faster results than my lagers with 34/70. Might give it a try some time if you want to just get the grain bill down. I don’t make many starters so 34/70 is cheaper to use but the speed of wlp029 outweighs the cost for me at the moment .

@Waldo

Any update on whether you achieved your goal?

(BTW - never encountered that particular beer, but I was born in Cleveland & spent a few years working in Buffalo & Detroit).

Also: the artistic rendition of the "butler"  (or whatever he's supposed to be) really creeps me out in a strange (but not bad), way.  His drawing just captures some lost thing about the time from the 1930s through the late 50s - and the way people's minds worked back then.  Fascinating.

Thanks OP!  Interesting stuff.

Any luck ? I’ve been tweaking mine for going on over a year now . I’m switching hops from saaz to cluster and have been lagering everything using 34/70 instead of wlp029 . I love this style

Funny you should mention Cluster hops; I have a cream ale from a kit in the fermenter and it came with Cluster (added for the whole 60 minute boil).
