Actually was $1,000 but I sold the Sadlak mount that came with it for $200.
Had 50 rounds through it. Added a USGI stock. Painted the handguard and white lettering. I have a USGI handguard somewhere, gotta find it. New M1A’s go for $1,650 around here. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

So that’s considered a “featureless” weapon in CA so no mag lock correct? Not too bad and no grip fin BS to deal with either.
Mags prices have come way down for M-1a’s right? |

Sweeeet. You done well. Welcome to M1A happiness.
Now we just wait for the shitposters to arrive and tell you how it's junk. Paging madcap72 and the other idiots of GD... please come to the courtesy phone. |

I've been trying to resist adding a M-14 type to my collection, and you're not helping.
Nice rifle. |

[#12]
For $800 Id be very very tempted. I have no use for a M1A but have a pile of mags and no rifle any more.
Very nice buy! |
|
[#13]
Nice. I would be happy to pick one up for that price as well, retail seems way to steep for what it is.
|
|
[#14]
Not a bad price. But the retail price makes it hard to choose over an ar10.

Very nice rifle. Has a lot of history behind it. But not for an old man like me. Anybody over 50 is liable to slip a disc just trying to lift up one of those things from a gunshow table. I grunt every time I try to lift it. lol

[#17]
Great price. I have a fair amount of time behind an M-14 while on a Navy rifle team. Sometimes I think I need an M-1A but my old eyes don't like open sights.

I remember when you sold yours off years ago; always thought that was a mistake.

Now get it out of that pretty wood and into a USGI Fiberglass stock.
Much tougher and will shoot better (won't compress at the pressure points and no swell or shrink with the humidty - plus if you scratch, ding or damage it, you can rattle can it back to glory in nothing flat! |

Not expecting sub MOA I probably added a pound of weight to this USGI stock. Attached File Attached File |

You like what you like OP. Congrats on getting something you like.
HOWEVER...there is no realm where sanity exists which people pay more than $600 for that rifle. Hell...you have idiots around here who GLADLY spend $700+ on a garand or a $200. on a fucking Mosin Nagant. Fucking just....no. No. |

I just love the simple & honest nature of the M1A.
It is my favorite for a big bore Iron Sighted rifle (over the FAL, G-3 & Others) - and the best sights ever on a combat rifle (IMHO) |

I will shoot it for what it is, like my Garand. I want to shoot distance then I will use my ar308 and or 6.5CM bolt gun. |

Is that a standard or a "loaded" standard? If "loaded" you got an even better deal.
I paid $1,650 for a NIB "loaded" standard in 2000. |

I don't care how many are still in warehouses in Europe or in South Korea, they aren't here, in supply. It is damn near 2020, milsurp is nearly gone, and M1As and M14s aren't that prolific anymore. Tooling is expensive and it is becoming a niche market because of AR10 pattern rifles. Add in the fact OP lives in a state that HATES the armed citizen, and that rifle makes a ton of sense to own because of their bullshit laws. Nice score OP. |

View Quote It doesn’t have the svette compact look of a 5.56carbine. It looks like a Donked out Caprice on 50” rims. The M1A has really nice yet utilitarian lines that belong on a larger bore rifle.
