Buddy of mine had 1 back in the day. Same color.  I was surprised how well it was.  We had f-bodys before that and his car prior to the GTO was a '01 SLP SS.  the gto felt so much better over all than that car.

Last one I had was '67. Didn't steer well. Didn't stop well. Didn't corner well. But, she had character.

06 GTO I have installed Kooks Stepped headers with Borla cat back exhaust, cold case radiator with Mishimoto silicone hoses, all new bushings in the front with new tie rod ends.
I rebuild the struts and have Koni adjustable shocks front and rear with new Lovell springs. I installed a Magnusson TVS 2300 and had the 4l65e built by Cahall Performance Transmissions to handle the 460/468 rear wheel HP/TRQ. I have a very conservative tune and still have the sea level pulleys so the motor only has a 4lbs boost. I will be doing a cam and a smaller pulley in the near future and a new tune. The car runs fine at this level and is not temperamental at all and it just turned over 150k today. I really Love this car.

I bought this car in 2015 because I was wanting another GTO, I sold my first one a 1967 in 1983 just before I went into the army. I found the guys son I sold the 67 too and he has the car now and would not sell it to me, it has not moved since I sold it in 83. he has since started working on it and sends me pics. I had a 1966 421 Tri Power motor that I wanted to put into the 67.

A close friend had a 02 Trans am convertible when I bought this car and I really liked the T/A and should have bought it from him but bought the GTO instead, both are very nice cars.

Wing removal was very popular on the Ls1GTO board. There was a company that sold color matched plugs that filed in the holes in the deck lid, but a good body shop can fill in and repaint the deck lid. That's how I did it on all of my cars. Looks MUCH better without the wing.

I will have to see what it looks like but I can’t imagine doing anything permanently.

The wing was deemed necessary to transform the Holden Monaro for the US market. I’d say they misunderstood us lol.

"Little (Holden) GTO, you're really looking fine..."

That is a conservative tune. That early, iron block LS is one tough bird. With a cam, injectors, pulleys and E85 you'll have yourself a sweet street sleeper there. Enjoy that sweet ride!

The last of the great line of cars Pontiac put out. Those GTO's are going to be collectable for a long time.

Here is my 1963 "PRE-"TO The GTO was introduced in '64.

Looks good!

I had an Spice Red '06. Started as a cam/bolt-on car that made 420rwhp through the rebuilt/viper spec T56. Spun a rod bearing and went to a 408 on nitrous. Car was stolen shortly after that install. There's been times that I looked for another, but being only made in 04-06 makes it hard to find a lower mileage one.

The spice red is a sweet color, sad that it was stolen. I wish this was a low miles car but it has 150k now but it wants for nothing as in I fix everthing that even hints needing repaired. My wife want a fun car and we have thought of finding a super clean low mile car for hers.

I had the tune that way because of the high miles and at that time I still had the transmission stock and about 140k on it. I also could put a smaller pulley and get the boost up. The tuner said with the smaller pulley and a more aggressive tune I could be over 500 real easy.

Nice car. The blue is IMO the best color on them.
I like the wing too, looks naked without it.

Looked at one of those back when new in that blue w/6 speed. Dealer didn't want to deal with unfortunately.

Super clean goat. I am on the lookout for a set of factory 18s for my car.

One of my neighbors in NY had a spice red '06 and he dropped an LSX 454 in it, in his single garage.

Impulse Blue is one of my favorite colors on the new GTOs. If you're doing a cam it's just a bit more work to throw a set of heads on it too. I put a set of mildly worked over LS3 heads on my LS2 GTO and it was the bargain king of heads at the time.
