I've put graffiti decals on some of my model railroad's cars... along with "weathering" to make them look realistic.

But I just received this... a gift from one of my sons, who is also an Arfcommer:

That's not a decal!  It was done by Dakota's Railroad Shop.  https://www.facebook.com/Dakotasrailroadshop/

Now, is this cool or what???

They make graffiti decals? Things have changed since I had my model trains back in the late 70s. They look quite realistic.

No train looks authentic without at least one dickbutt graffiti tag.   Or Pepe.   Maybe both.

You need a FU Arock!  That's a great Christmas present.  Bump the boy up a notch in your will.

Very cool!

In my early teens, I had a friend whose dad had bought an HO set from a guy that had spent some serious time and money building an elaborate model.

The dad had let it sit in the damp basement so the track was all tarnished.   One summer vacation, I discovered it when my friend and I went down to play ping pong.  Rather than play ping pong, we cleaned up the track and got it going again.  His dad found out that we were playing with it and got pissed.  Told us to leave it alone.  Not long after that, his parents split up, I guess Dad was cheating and left for another woman.  My friend moved away and I never saw him or the train model again

Decals?  Cool.  I was hoping for some mad skillz airbrush magic

my preiser HO railroad cops engage in extreme police brutality against taggers/graffiti "artists"
so some of my RR cars may be weathered, but no graffiti.

Yes.  The first two photos on my first post are decals.  They come from a number of places... Microscale, Blair, Dave's Decals, and
others.

The third photo, brown boxcar on the far left, someone hand painted that (not me), and the yellow TTX  boxcar is a decal.

The Blues Bros covered hopper is hand painted.

Ahhh!  An eye for detail!  Some miss it completely.

If you look closely, there is underbrush growing from under the open hood, and in the bed of this
old rustbucket pickup.

You can get permanent markers in various colors.  Some guys use that.  Also white pencils are
good for some of the chalk marks, simple stuff.

Yeah, but it's like playing Wack-a-Mole.  Catch a tagger here, while cuffin' and stuffin' one, ten
more are tagging your well cars.

One thing taggers have learned... if they paint over the reporting marks, the data tags, etc, the
RR will repaint asap.  If they paint around those markings the RR will let it go for a while.

Look how the data and reporting marks are carefully painted around on each end, particularly
the letters painted around in the green on the far right.

Looks cool, however, I think it's sad that graffiti is reality. Nice setup.
