I need fire support.

I may be getting tagged with teaching some classes for my employer in the very near future.

I attended the Formal School Instructor's Course over a decade ago in the USMC.

Does anyone have any of the literature from that course or a similar one in another branch? I would like to start refreshing myself on it to better prepare myself.

I will send a free windowed PMAG to whoever provides it. .308 or 5.56... winner's choice. (obviously if you live in a shitty state other considerations will need to be made)

Hope you all had a good weekend. Thanks in advance.

It was a while ago.. but I recall a diddy about  the general structure of how one should conduct their class.

The only portion of which that I can recall is "attention gainer". Which was essentially a relevant and poignant story to the subject matter or a joke to get everyone awake.

I could stumble through this... however, I would prefer to employ a previously used method to help myself stay on track and ensure that the class progresses in a sensible fashion.

The organization is one of some importance, so I want to do this right.

heres the link to the Armys (old) basic instructors course.  I taught abic for a while.

Rehearse your class, out loud, in front of someone.

Dont have the students read the slides and dont teach right from the slide.  The slide is just the bullet points. Know the material and keep it interesting

Keep slides simple

Have printed slides in case the computer doesnt work or quits, and test fire the AV stuff.

Rehearse your class, out loud, in front of someone.  Video it.  Time it.
this lets you hear and see yourself.  watch the bridge words "umm, ahh, K, tracking, good to go? etc etc"  after a while they become a distraction the students and thats all they take away from your class.  also your body language.  talk to the whole class, dont stand in front of your screen and dont fucking point at it w your finger.  use a laser or something.  have a clicker if you can.  Students will also get fixated on "next slide"  We used to have an instructor count Umms and Ahhs, over 200 in a 40min class wasnt out of the norm.

Dont have the students read the slides and dont teach right from the slide.  The slide is just the bullet points. Know the material and keep it interesting.  By rehearsing the class and the rhythm if you loose you train of thought from a question or a side note, you can easily get back on track.  Students reading the slides:  no one is listening.  the one who is reading gets nothing because hes trying not to sound like a moron and everyone else knows your not going to call on them for a minute or two.  Never have them read from the slides.

Keep slides simple.  The busier the slide, the less people are pay attention to you.  all that retarded spinny reveal stuff is nonsense.  Simple is better. Use a sans sarif type font, the human eye sees sans sarif font better on a lit screen, opposite when reading from a book.

Have printed slides in case the computer doesnt work or quits, and test fire the AV stuff.  Technology will fail you for sure, even after a test fire.
