I replaced my motor with a much newer version.
The throttle cable end is right where it should be and connects to the TBI arm, but the mechanism to hold the cable itself is different. I'm sure I could make something work, but, is there a proper retrofit ?  Attached File Attached File |

You will need to replace the cable. The end at the throttle needs to be a Morse 33 style
end and the one at the control box will need to be a Mercury style. I don't know of any adapter that will adapt a Merc cable to a Morse type, but there are adapters to go from Morse 33 to Merc. I'll look tomorrow at work and see what I can find. |

No worries, I cruise this forum quite a bit.
Another thing you will want to check is the throw required to get full throttle. Different mfg's use different linkages and cable throws (travel) may be an issue. Say the Marine Power throttle body needs 3 inches of travel between idle and full throttle, and the Merc control only provides 2 3/4 inches of travel (numbers pulled from thin air). What then? Food for thought.  |

I can't find any adapters to convert the engine end of the Merc cable to a Morse style. Your only solution is to replace the Merc throttle cable with a Morse 33C cable and a Morse #301074 adapter kit for the control box end. It also looks like you will need a Morse #31799001 ball joint kit which goes on the engine end of the cable and connects to the little "trailer hitch ball" style throttle stud. |
