I'll start. July 21, 1986. Metallica opened for Ozzy on the Ultimate Sin tour. This was only a few months before Metallica bassist Cliff Burton was killed in a rollover bus accident in Sweden.
Tickets were $11. Metallica was just getting really popular after releasing the Master of Puppets album. We were sitting on the lawn at Pine Knob in Clarkston Mi. During Metallica's set the fans down front started getting really rowdy and were kicking over seats that were bolted down to concrete. Metallica stopped playing and was almost begging the crowd to calm down. Ozzy came out on stage and was telling the fans to fucking calm down or he wasn't going to play. Classic night. And, I was hammered. What a night. Playlist and ticket stub Have a good story? |

Emerson Lake & Palmer
the heat from the flames shooting out of the tops of Keith Emerson's brass pipe organ stacks lifted ceiling tiles that crashed down on the crowd in the arena and they had to stop the show. Greg Lake grabbed a mike and ad libbed "you really brought down the house tonight" no one was hurt, the tiles drifted down like feathers when they fell |

Monsters of Rock - Europe, Finthen Army Airfield, Mainz-Finthen, West Germany, September 7th, 1991
AC/DC, Metallica, Motley Crue, The Black Crowes, and Queensryche 8 1/2 hours, about 50,000 people I watched two chicks get into a knock-down, drag-out, hair-pulling, face-kicking, fight over the contents of a chewing tobacco pouch, which I am pretty sure didn't contain tobacco. I crowd surfed my way to the space between the general admission area and the restricted entry area, only to be grabbed by two large bouncers and made to go back around to the general admissions area. |

Amusing anecdote from an ohGr show during the TrickS tour...
Ogre starts doing a little "hypnosis" bit... (Sets up one of those trippy discs that you get told to look at to see weird patterns as it spins) Ogre: "Everyone, think back to better times, of things that make you happy..." Guy next to me in the crowd yells: "Great, now I'm horny!" (Orge continues the bit... "everybody look here", crazy flashing laser lights, etc... room dramatically goes black, then the lights snap back on. Dead silence.) Ogre: "Did it work?" Guy next to me again: "I'm still horny!" Ogre, turning to the rest of the band: "It didn't work guys, he's still horny." Ogre, turning back to the crowd: "Did anybody out there actually feel a sense of enlargement? Other than that guy's penis?" Laughs all around, good times had by all. Always great to see performers able to play off the crowd so naturally like that without missing a beat. |

AC/DC at Auburn Hills. They absolutely killed it. Impressive.
Several Amboy Dukes shows and Bob Segar in Michigan. All good. Got to see Black Oak Arkansas, Rick Derringer, Santana, Earth Wind and Fire, the OJs, Jackson 5, Commodores locally. There were a lot of Motown acts that played here, and I saw all the legends from Jackie Wilson, Temps, 4 Tops, Suprers. Aretha, Mary Wells…you name it. Oh and my band opened for the Fabulous Thunderbirds at Clio Ampitheater. Took my kids to see Fallout Boy, Paramour, LinkinnPark. Green Day, sugar Ray, Stone Temple Pilots. All were enjoyable. 50 years of concerts for me. Love it |

Beastie Boys in a small beach club on the jersey shore in 93. People jumping off the roof into the pool, the beasties were standing on top of the amps just busting rhymes and people were throwing full drinks from the bar into the pit. Was honestly the best and most fun concert I ever attended.

Grateful Dead 10/9/89. Billed as “Formerly the Warlocks” as Hampton city fathers didn’t want no hippie fest in town.
Brought back the Dark Star after a 5 year hiatus, and encored with an Attics, first time played since 1973. Crazy in the tapers pit. Quoted: I saw the Who play at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1982. Unfortunately, where I was sitting in a corner the sound was echoing so bad I could barely make out the songs. Huge disappointment. View Quote That's cool! I was at that show too. I was on stage right about 25 rows up from the floor. Slight echo, but overall good. I also saw the Stones there for the Tattoo You tour. |

I was there too. November 1981. Personally, I thought Santana was even better than the Stones. Do you remember when the fireworks started a small fire during the Stones show? |
