I knew what OP meant.
I still remember. My non power tools are all US, Canadian or German. Add electronics to it now... you know where that goes. |

Sorry to derail. Not my intention. I miss good tools made here.

The majority of my hand tools are older USA made Craftsman, but I've been slowly replacing them with Proto and Snap-On. Proto is a semi reasonably priced US produced option that is often overlooked. Sure it's more expensive than Husky/Kobalt/Craftsman but a lot less expensive than Snap-On.

Geez, OP, the finish on that piece of shit Crescent wrench is garbage. You really need to check out the offerings at Harbor Freight.

Just buy old USA made tools at pawn shops and yard sales.
You can still get new USA made at decent prices, but you’ll have to do a lot of research to find stuff |

Quoted: Most of my tools are U.S. and German. But Tawain makes some legit stuff too. No china crap though. Snap on, Stahlwille, Wright, Knipex, Hazet, Wera, old craftsman and SK View Quote My work bag is all Knipex, Klein, Bondhus, Proto, Snap On and Wera. I still have buttloads of Chicom shit floating around unfortunately. |

Not CCP China crap. They have a fragile democracy in Taiwan. China wants to annex them. |

So I know someone who got a new tool kit from Lowe's. Pretty decent set in a plastic box.
I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of around $200? They offered me their old tools they somehow acquired from their national guard job. It was a 2'x2'x9' ish Aluminum feild tech box that latched like a small suitcase on front or flip it over and the back opened. I was like sure. How much do you want for it. Thinking US Gov tools! Going to be made in the USA. I was expecting it to be mostly Stanley. He was like no, you can have it. Its bulky and I just want to get it out of my garage. Cause I got these new tools. So I was like hell yeah I'll take it. Well When I got home and actually looked them over. It was a set of beautifully polished SK Wrenches and sockets. With other good US made screw drivers ,Allen and torx drivers, and a Greenlee multi meter. I was like WoW! To think the SK wrench set was worth more than the whole Kobalt kit he bought and we were both happy. |

A couple years back the company I worked for had a team of guys that went around “inspecting” tools and confiscating “defective” tools.
They took anything that was not Snapon, Proto, or Blue Point. They threw away hundreds of sets of SK sockets. They took huge 1 15/16” wrench from me not a chance that thing would have failed. I recently destroyed two snapon extensions and a Proto breaker bar. My old SK’s wouldn’t have failed. |
