Just what the title says. This stuff right here.

Well? Safe to eat, or am I going to be a tapeworm condo?

yikes... you're going to need a parasite exorcism afterwards.

Flash freezing is done for fish served at sushi places to kill parasites.

In for an informed answer.  I cook the frozen filets very rare, but I’ve never served them raw.

LOL. Look at my state. We barely have American markets around.

In my county, there's a Kroger, a Wal Mart, and a private butcher's shop. That's it.

Which is why I'm asking.

Yep. It says on the package that it's flash frozen.

Yep. Quite a few times I've done them super rare and it didn't seem to cause any ill effects.

Yes it is safe to do it.

No need to ruin it by cooking it.

I’ve eaten the entire steak worth raw. You’re fine just don’t buy it from the gas station or somethingn

Actually, I like salmon sashimi even better than tuna.

I always save the salmon for last.

Not crazy about octopus. (too rubbery and chewy)

I have made Nigiri with fresh Costco Salmon before. Eaten a ton of it and shared it with many people (they were all given disclaimers).

I researched as best I could and from what I understand:  wild fish = parasites and farm fish is safe because they only eat pellet food.

As for frozen. I assume that would kill parasites but i'm not sure. Krogers (around here) weird me out. Best of luck.

Sorry, my membership ran out and I lost track of this thread.

OP did not die.

OP did not get projectile diarrhea.

OP had no negative side effects that he could detect.

Since then, OP has also made a poke bowl with thawed raw tuna and it was pretty delicious.

Costco had seasoned Poke tuna for a couple of weeks, but I guess it didn't sell well because they discontinued pretty quickly. Good stuff, I wish they would have kept selling it.

Also: Is a squashpup similar to a squatdog?

You’ll be fine. Once fish gets frozen it kills off any parasites. Most sushi restaurants used previously frozen fish as well. Hope this helps
