Two more good ones are “Horse Soldiers” (now 12 Strong which many are familiar with about the team that went in and linked up with the Northern Alliance) and “The Only Thing Worth Dying For” which chronicles another ODA which, along with Afghan-president-to-be Hamid Karzai, went in through Pakistan and linked up with pro-Karzai resistance forces north of Kandahar. Both amazing reads about what might (should) have been. One more short, easy read with insight into “things”: The Lions of Kandahar. |
