I don't really know considering I never smoke the pipes I already own... I ordered a bent plateau. I like bent pipes and I want to do something really organic looking with an exposed plateau. We’ll see Funny thing, I worked with wood my entire life until I sold my cabinet business last year and I swore I’d never have a hobby involving woodworking. Never say never. |

Given the “lockdown” and campus being closed, I should have been making LOTS of pipes.
But I haven’t been. |

My work schedule hasn't been affected, but I've been more productive than usual at home. I'm sure it's due to lack of entertainment options at from home, lol.

Quoted: This one is new, and is sort of a custom order. It is based on part on earlier ones I have made, but I decided to take it in a more "hybrid" direction. I like it a lot. ... that said, the scratches on the bottom are bugging me a lot, now that I see it - so I might actually re-do it, which might mean having to refinish the entire thing. I guess that could be good news, if someone wants a different finish/color. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/1715/SMALLpipe0002-1318519.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/1715/SMALLpipe0003-1318520.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/1715/SMALLpipe0004-1318521.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/1715/SMALLpipe0005-1318522.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/1715/SMALLpipe0006-1318523.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/1715/SMALLpipe0010-1318525.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/1715/SMALLpipe0009-1318524.jpg View Quote The color on that is absolutely beautiful! |

So what colors did you use on the latest one? I'm guessing black, then yellow, then green? Looks good. You should have files in a slot for an extractor. Shank almost looks like the lugs on an AR bolt! Looks really nice. I'm going to try black and green on a Dublin for my son in law. If it turns out anywhere near as nice as yours, I'll be happy. Keep posting up the pipes. Miss seeing this thread updated. No slacking!!!

Looks to me the chamber bit is a hand ground spade bit. Something you could do yourself to save on tooling? Beautiful craftsmanship!! Vinlandpipes.com ?

I mixed yellow and blue dye to get the green I wanted. A lot of coats, to get exactly the color I was going for. Thanks! |

That makes sense. The ones I already bought will probably last for a while, but that’s a good idea if I ever need more. Vinlandpipes.com ? Yep. The website is optimized for desktop, so while it WORKS for a mobile device, it doesn’t look great. |

A pipe has been shipped out to Qatar today.
... man, I just haven’t been making many pipes lately. I think it’s because I love summer and the heat so much, I don’t want to be cooped up in the workshop - but want to be outside. Perhaps I need to have a formal “pipe making season” (like from November 1 to April 30 or something) and then a summer hiatus. |

I keep looking at vinland pipes and although they are amazing, I can't figure out what style to buy.
I had shitty corncob and Dr Grabow pipes in college, 15+ years ago, and haven't touched one since, and basically got into cigars and snus. I do remember having a hard time keeping them lit, which might well have been the drugstore pipe tobacco, or maybe I just sucked at it. Any advice for a novice? |

View Quote The Braendevin II (Number 102) would be a great first step into custom pipes. It’s easy on the wallet and a nice shape (I have a couple of Vinlands in a similar shape). It should set well in your hand and all of my Vinlands smoke great. You won’t be disappointed! |
