Ford Versus Ferrari

***½

*****

The story and the movie as a whole works and is worth the price of admission.
The racing scenes could have been used in GoT, Season 8.

If there is a book the movie was based on I'm buying it.

Just started season 4 of Andromeda today.  From the end of the golden age of sci-fi, all about lasers and space battles, writing and acting took a back seat.  Still decent, but aged (from the long long ago of 2004).

And GOD Lexa Doig is fucking HOT.

The Forest a 1981 B grade slasher that sticks out for the following
The protagonists and the four victims are all older actors in their 30's portraying adults around the same age group and not high school or college kids
The first slasher to incorporate a supernatural sub plot in the form of the killers dead kids coming back as ghosts to warn the hikers
The first slasher movie to have a killer who is a cannibal Texas Chainsaw Massacre don't count since it's not a slasher movie
Lame ass movie but worth the rent just for the early 80's nostalgia

Hounds Of Love based on a crime that happened in Australia in 1986 was mediocre to say the least while it did have unsettling and disturbing moments it was nothing more than lifetime movie with blood.

Made in USA a 1987 SJW movie with Chris Penn and Adrian Pasdar about a couple of slackers who leave their dying PA coal town and go on a cross country crime spree to California along with a hot blonde and hot American Indian babe and their pet coyote good cinematography but nothing that hadn't been done better.

Just saw it. . .

1)  There is a book:  Go Like Hell (
Amazon Product
  • Go Like Hell Ford Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans

)
2)  Racing scenes were a bit. . .dramatized.  Lots of shifting and hitting the accelerator.
3)  The story stands on its own pretty well.  Didn't need embellishment.
4)  They really did a good job showing how bad Ken Miles got screwed.

Rise of Skywalker.

Jumped around like Pulp Fiction, except the timeline was linear instead of jumping around also.

Gator not as good as White Lighting The Private Files of J Edgar Hoover man they really portrayed him as a real scumbag even though to me the Kennedy's and FDR were just as bad if not worst.

Close, with Noomi Rapace.
It had some fun moments, but there were parts that didn't make sense, and the drama of the end was a little fucked up with the main characters having some misplaced priorities.

The 3 part Dracula series on Netflix was entertaining.  The nun character was the best role, imo.

Simple storyline, two Brit soldiers are sent through the German front with a message to stop a big advance that will be running into a German ambush.  The long continuous shots were interesting.  I liked it.

Scary movie not the 2000 Wyans brothers movie but a 1991 slasher about a tormented little dweeb who looks and acts like Sheldon Coopers love child with flashbacks from his family being killed by a deranged killer who gets trapped in a house of horrors on Halloween the same night as fore mentioned loony escapes and well the movie itself is and absolute laugh riot whether intentional or not with all the usual cliches teenagers who look older than they should picked on spas finally cracking up and accidentally shoots the sheriff escaped killer caught nowhere near the house of horrors so we assume it was a prank gone wrong plus the movies looks as if it was made around mid-late 80's but didn't get released until 91 oh well good for MSTK style laughs.

Doctor Sleep.

Wasn't sure about this one.  Wasn't what I expected.  Thought it was pretty decent.  Mostly succeeded in establishing itself as it's own movie rather than relying on The Shining to carry all the weight.  Nice call backs to that film.

Highly decent.

One of these days, though, I'd like to see a chase, Where, people are trying to get onto/into a car/ground vehicle and the drivers suddenly have this Great Idea: Stomp onto the brakes HARD, sending the Intruders in Front of the vehicles, then flooring the gas pedal, running over the people trying to get on board or whatever.

Just once.

Doctor Sleep.

Holy crap that was long.  I remember thinking, how much longer is this after 90 minutes? check the time code...2 MORE HOURS?!?! I didn't read the book I guess they wanted to put as much of the book into the movie as they could.

It was ok. Not really scary or gory, much like The Shining itself. But it made more sense of the The Shining. I liked it.

Motherless Brooklyn

A Chinatown type story with really good performances. Ed Norton is a liberal douche but is a good actor. I think he knows he's no Nicholson so he took the role in another direction and it worked for me. Bobby Canavale delivers once again. Alex Baldwin is another liberal shit head but kills his performance as usual.

They also pulled off the 1950's look pretty well.

7.5 out of 10.

Darkside Of The Ring about Chris Benoit pretty depressing but they left some stuff out the original Dolemite 44 years later and it still holds up as a classic Blaxploitation send up.
