Seeing how Hollywood is 99.99997% woke trash nowadays, and I can only rewatch 80-90's Hollywood productions so many times. I've been watching a lot more foreign films, anyone else?

These are the most recent (All Japanese or Korean)

Just starting this one, a 1987 Italian movie about Lenin's travel from exile in Switzerland to Russia. Ben Kingsley stars as Lenin. Apparently this movie is hard to find in the US because it shows how international bankers financed the Bolshevik revolution. But it's on Youtube.

Hitman: Agent Jun watched this one over the weekend, you might recognize one of the main characters from Squid Games.

Entertaining dark comedy, even if the action is on the cheesy side.

My eight year old is obsessed with Hunt for the Wilderpeople, to the point he wants to hear Sinnerman everyday.
It’s not bad - a goofy, dry humor, feel good survival movie.

That's the one that turned me on to Korean horror.

Another good one is 'I Saw the Devil.'

On Netflix streaming I watched the series "Money Heist."

If the series doesn't count, I'm not sure if I saw "The Raid" before "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" but I did rewatch both of them a few months ago.

ETA: Is Kung Fu Hustle considered a foreign film? That has to be the most recent first viewed foreign film I've seen after "The Raid" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

Definitely a foreign film. Stephen Chow has arguably the most consistently good filmography in terms of comedy for a generation IMO.

The Villianness was my long weekend movie. Overly stylized, and tactically un-sound action scenes. But regardless, the drama and writing was good enough to make up for it.

"The 9th Company", interesting movie about how screwed up the Soviet Union was in Afghanistan. The DVD has both subtitles and dubbed, oddly enough, I liked it better subtitled.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time

What a mouthful of the title. Takes place exactly where the original series left off, 16-17 years ago. Great to finally have an ending, considering how the original ended with 2 episodes of philosophical techno word salad. The first couple minutes actually starts with the same almost incoherent babble. I was surprised by how much of the original my wife recalled while we were watching. This is how you do a sequel.

Last one I can remember going to.
The local art house cinema that shows most of the foreign stuff was closed for most of covid and is next door to a major construction project this summer so I haven't gone to see anything there

I watched Money Heist, but it went downhill in a hurry.

My favorite was the Swedish version of “Lady with the Dragon Tattoo” trilogy.

French film: 'Blue Is The Warmest Color.'

A French teen (Adèle Exarchopoulos) forms a deep emotional and sexual connection with an older art student (Léa Seydoux) she met in a lesbian bar.

Agreed. Maybe back when it was released it was "special," but I was left with the same thoughts.

City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes
This is how you do a remake of a classic. Felt exactly like the City Hunter from the 80s, except with modernized props (smart phones, drones, etc), in a modernized world. Watching this made me remember, I should probably make plans to purchase a Colt Python.

Gantz
Gantz: Perfect Answer
First one basically follows the manga story exactly. Sequel only shares characters, and is basically it's own timeline divorced from the manga. From the creator of Inuyashiki, very similar feel of scifi action, based around highly advanced technology being utilized in modern day to do battle. Likewise, character development is focused on the morals of each.
