My oh my. This is what bourbon should taste like. Sweet, but with a bite. 52% alcohol. 30 bucks a liter.

Buy some today!

IIRC it's made by Dickel, so it's TN whiskey?

That may well be the case. But it’s labeled Bourbon and it tastes like bourbon.

If they label it as bourbon it must meet certain requirements.

Very easily could have been distilled in TN and still meets the requirements.

Rules are:

1. Made in USA

2. Must be aged in a new, charred, oak barrel.

3. Mash bull must have at least 51 percent corn.

4. After aging, whiskey can't enter the barrel higher than 125 proof and not lower than 80 proof.

5. Nothing can be added but water to lessen the proof, no flavoring can be added.  If you look at any of the flavored offerings from Wild Turkey or Jim Beam, they aren't labeled Bourbon on the label.

Can you compare it to some common bourbon we may have tried?

Jim Beam with a little more sweet, and a little more bite.

I know one of the prior Kirkland Bourbons was thought to be bottled and distilled by Jim Beam, I’ll try and get a picture if the bottle I have.

Looks like it is in fact from Tennessee.

Too bad there is no Kirkland liquor in NJ. 103 proof is an interesting number. Never seen that before.

The Costco closest to me (Wayne, NJ) sells booze.

It is made by dickel and it uses a very high corn recipe, which is why it's so sweet. Not a bad bourbon, but if you're big into some rye spice, then you will end up a little disappointed.

The term "bourbon" has no state-based geographic restriction.

I was seriously impressed with Kirkland's bourbon. Great price, and a good amount of bite. Sweet, but not too much on that count.

To my knowledge, bourbon just needs to be produced in the USA, not necessarily Kentucky. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m a Bourbon guy. Not really into Scotch but this stuff is really good from Costco also.

You are correct.  Bourbon needs to be made in the US.  Only Kentucky straight bourbon needs to be made in KY.

The Costco brand is probably a brown Forman or MGP distilled and aged whisky.  Their Alexander Murray labeled products are a real mystery, but their 18 year is very good for the price.

I was in NY for Xmas stopped at a Costco and picked up four bottles of the bourbon and two 20 year old Scotch.

Opened the bourbon on my return to NC (regulated alcohol state) and wow .  I have over 100 bottles in  my collection including several pappy's .  This is a really good small batch. Have not opened the Scotch yet but looking forward to it.

i really liked the bourbon, actually like it more than most I've tried at this point.

I did NOT like the kirkland Irish whiskey.  Might be the first bottle i've ever dumped down the drain.
