I'd like to think I have good lawyers and think I do and keep them on retainer (just in case) but I don't do anything wrong and still think it is a good idea. But damn what a gig that is for them. Who here does that?
I am personally not a lawyer btw. |

I offered a few mackerel to one attorney but he hasn’t bitten yet.
I have a penguin in a leather harness on a leash.
It sounds harsh, but he actually seems to enjoy it. |
Good lord, why? Are they not going to rake you as a client?
My FIL is a retired lawyer. He looks over our contracts and such, but if I was in jail, I'd be asking him to find me the right kind of lawyer. That's the closest I've got. |

I’ll deal with it if/when the time comes that requires a lawyer.

This week has shown that long retained lawyers and insurance companies can bail on you when shit hits fan.
Retainers and premiums up in smoke. |
I did, once. For a thing. Turned out to be a waste of money. Ymmv.
If things keep going the way they have been there will be no need for lawyers
I have a lawyer on retainer.
I should probably get a another one. I don't think a trust and estate lawyer will help me much when I need a lawyer. |
Kinda like a comprehensive umbrella policy, in that ya should never tell?
Fortunately I've never needed a lawyer.
The few minor legal problems I've had I was able to handle myself (usually after getting advice from someone more experienced in the matter). I wouldn't hesitate to hire one when needed however. |
Having already been maliciously targeted by the Feds, and racking up a HUGE legal bill....yeah I have a lawyer on retainer...AND speed dial.
Obviously I've heard the phrase, but I honestly don't know what it actually means.
I have been meaning to look into "carry insurance". I have two names in mind that I would call and ask if they could represent me if something happened. I should probably see about actually writing down their numbers |
I wouldn't say retainer but I've got one in my contacts who I've worked with before and we keep in contact. Reminds me I need to email him about something :)
My family has one. I have never needed him my self but he seems to be a nice guy.
I'm around prosecutors and defense lawyers every day. Im friends with both. If I need one or the other, I know where to go.
I have one of those prepaid legal plans from work. The couple times I tried to use them the lawyers told me they don't deal with X or Y. The plan's payable rates seem too low for anyone to want to deal with. Its very limited in what's its good for.

She spent zero dollars on my quest to have the best handguns money can buy. The Staccato P DUO is worth every penny. Better than any glop imagined at the price point and beyond. I bought myself one and one for her for Christmas. And the" I married one just in case" is just humor. My wife could be a cashier at circle k and I'd love her the same. Stop spending hundreds of dollars on Chinese knives and invest in quality American firearms. You'll be happier and satisfied. I'm retiring at the end of the year I think, gonna be a manual laborer, in my next life, relaxing to mindless physical labor to supplement my retirement. Sweet, sweet mindless labor. You know we love you Aimless, our favorite arfcom lawyer. |

Unnecessary waste of money unless you find yourself being sued/suing often or are a criminal. Which in both cases you should be re-evaluating your life choices.

Pre-Paid Legal Services for the small stuff, and advice. They won't handle a major criminal case (God forbid,) but can refer me.
USCCA for the big. |

A simple "no" pole choice would not render your poll as failed.

When I had my solo practice I had one guy come in and ask to put me on retainer. I had no idea what to do with that - he wasn’t a local guy, said he had just moved to the area, and he seemed totally sketchy. Couldn’t say why he wanted me on retainer versus just calling me if he needed something. I think I took $500 from him, told him it was non-refundable but if he needed my services I’d bill against the retainer until it was exhausted and then bill him hourly. Never heard from him again.

Technically yes. My malpractice insurance has a team of lawyers at the ready.

I once posted a funny gif as a reply to something Spartacus said so I’m pretty sure that counts.

None at the moment, I do however have access to a good law firm with just one phone call and no consultation, I hired them once before with good results, come back and see us again sometime they said.
Not all Lawyers are evil, right Aimless |

My lawyers are cheap. Only cost me $24 a year in retainer fees.

Wife works for an attorney. Low-cost lawyering is one of the only perks of her job.

I have a criminal defense attorney on retainer in case of ccw/self-defense and a landlord/tenant attorney on retainer because I'm a landlord.

We have a firm we use, not on retainer. Last small thing we used them for was $10k an that was cheap.
