They're having a big FaceBook Live event on Saturday the 22nd to kick off the IndieGoGo fundraising drive, they have some big names from the comics industry involved, Chuck Dixon has done the adaptation, the cover art is by Dave Dorman, Derlis Santacruz is on interior art, and Brett Smith on colors.  There's more information on the Baen Books Facebook page (can't post the fundraising link here for obvious reasons).  Many or all of those involved have faced backlash in the comics industry for being too conservative.

Chuck Dixon is known for his work on Marvel's the Punisher and DC's Batman, Nightwing, and Robin in the '90's and early '00's.
Dave Dorman is best known for his Star Wars artwork.
Derlis Santacruz has illustrated over thirty comic books or graphic novels, including a number of Batman, Tomb Raider, and Justice League of America's Vibe titles plus others.
Brett R Smith has worked with Marvel, DC, Hasbro, Cartoon Network, and many other clients contributing to properties and licenses including The Avengers, Batman, Superman, GI Joe, Wolverine, Suicide Squad, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hulk, and many others.

This project is to convert an existing series of books over to the graphic novel format, with a secondary goal of being able to use that graphic novel as a storyboard to try to get a TV series or movie deal.  

The basic premise is a man-made virus that produces a zombie-like effect in the victims and what it takes to survive.  The details of how the virus operated were so realistic that when someone at the CDC was provided a copy, it apparently prompted some emergency meetings and a request to PLEASE change some of the details so nobody tried to do it for real...  The main four books follow the story of the Smith family as they deal with the oncoming pandemic, including efforts at a vaccine and isolating from everyone else on boats.  There are some additional books that follow their uncle, who was the one who initially warned them of it in time to (mostly) avoid it's effects.

The IndieGoGo has been up about two weeks, they need all the help they can get!  I can't link it here, but searching for Black Tide Rising will find it.

Somewhat, they're hoping the graphic novel will serve as a storyboard to pitch to producers, that was part of what they felt they were missing before.

It actually prompted some hurried meetings at the CDC and a request that certain details be changed because the original mechanism for the virus was not only plausible, but was something they had never considered before, and it scared the pants off them (an early draft was provided to a director at the CDC).

The IndieGoGo campaign has met it's original goals with a week left to go, there are still some opportunities to be featured in cameos in the novel or to get art prints, both plain and autographed!
