So I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and in December the computer screen part of the instrument cluster started going blank. It would go blank, then come back on. In January, it would go out for a day, then come back on. By the end of the month, it would go out for days, even a week at a time. I'd make an appointment with the dealership and the thing would start working that morning when I started it up or it would come back on the night before the appointment.
February it just died. I made an appointment, the dealership said to talk with Jeep Cares. Jeep Cares and the dealership said they'd cover it under warranty. I died when I went over 36K. It's my understanding, this instrument cluster issue is a common thing. Jeep and the dealership say they'll cover it. So all should be good right? Not really.
The dealership keeps saying they can't get the part. Jeep Cares keeps saying it's the dealers fault and the dealership keeps saying it Chryslers fault. They said each computer screened instrument cluster has to be individually programmed by some contractor and there's only one of them. And I am like 48th on a list. I told the dealership I could buy the part (it's in stock) and have it in three days. I could have them send it to the company. Dealership said the contractor wouldn't do that. ETA for my part...every week...no eta.
I feel like I am getting screwed. So I am looking for some advice or experience. This is just the way it is or am I getting the shaft? Anybody know if the newer instrument cluster is a plug and play and I can put it in myself? I could wait for a year if I needed too, but I don't have a gas gauge because of this and it's really extremely irritating not knowing how much gas you have, even though I try to keep track of miles and get to the station before I would get into trouble.
Thanks.
