From my non-expert opinion, Jeep towing the trailer and when he signaled the bro truck sped up to block him?

Truck. No brakes at all. Had plenty of time to slow. Truck hit trailer. Plus has a GIANT ass FOX stick on the tailgate AND bro mirrors... Auto guilty.
ETA: Looks like the highway guy got smacked in the melee. |

Hmmm Jeep was changing lanes to avoid the emergency vehicle in the shoulder, but turned off its turn signal super early, and didn’t pick a very big gap to safely make the lane change. Looks like the truck was trying to do the “I’m pissed off so I’m tailgating you” move but didn’t know where its passenger tire was, and hit the trailer from behind.

Truck drivers fault

truck driver was probably on his cell phone

Jeep at fault, you change lanes it is ALWAYS on you to make sure no one is there. The other driver doesn't have any requirement to speed up, slow down, or move to another lane to let you over. And a blinker isn't a magic talisman that gives you any special right to make a lane change.

Jeep signaled and bro-dozer was an asshole thereby causing an accident that could have been avoided with a little courtesy.

Truck.
The Jeep had room to get over when he entered the lane, the idiot in the truck just kept closing. |
Truck ran into the trailer, didn’t even seem to notice it.

I say the truck is at fault. The Jeep is almost all the way into the lane before the truck hits him. Looks like the truck was trying to be a jerk and not let him over.

When you change lanes you are responsible. Truck probably could have stopped in time but that doesn't make it his fault. |

Jeep had trailer signaling a left lane change we get one left flash on the trailer rear. Pickup probably had cruise control locked in at a much faster speed.

Both get ticketed. Jeep driver is primarily at fault. Slow down or move over. There was no safe move over. Truck driver isn’t paying attention or is an aggressive asshole. Reasonable and prudent action by either one could have avoided the accident. Instead they both contributed to an almost manslaughter which the highway patrol should rightly tear them apart and make them cry for.

Jeep made an unsafe lane change. The law is move over or slow down by 20mph.
He followed him for 7 seconds before contact, was moving onto the yellow line and never slowed, if thats not enough time to not crash
![]() If I have the choice to avoid crashing, no matter whos fault, Im going to avoid it. |

Lets start with many, if not most states, make it a legal requirement to move over for emergency vehicles, or road maintenance workers.
When the Jeep moved over, he had a signal on, and had 12 to 15ft of space when he was most of the way into the left lane. Truck driver failed to slow for a vehicle that had the legal obligation to change lanes. Would he have slowed for a big rig merging into his lane......I'm gonna say yes he would have. But since he felt the need not to slow even slightly (either distracted or acting like a dick)......he chose to hit the rear of the trailer. Truck driver moves slightly left, but could have moved another foot to the left and avoided hitting the trailer. The accident was not caused by the guy in the Jeep merging......it was caused by the truck impacting the rear of the trailer through negligence. . |

Truck. Thought he could get on the Jeep trailers ass and teach him a lesson but forgot his wideass tires stuck out so far.
The guy in the orange jacket at the end is pretty dam lucky. |
Truck had plenty of opportunity to slow. Jeep had signal on when it came into view.
From the evidence shown truck is 100% responsible. It could be that Jeep didn’t signal until partially in the fast lane or Jeep underestimated truck’s speed (excessively speeding). |
Ram's fault. Ram rammed the trailer. Likely wasnt paying attention.
Jeep was moving over. Ram had PLENTY of time to give room. Driving on the highway is a shared place. You give and take. Jeep needed the space to give the highway worker room. |
Whose* fault is it?
Who's at fault? |

was orange coat guy sitting in the vehicle or standing next to it?

jeep driver started the chain of events but both could have prevented it
Jeep driver didn’t have enough room to get over. Blinking your signal and cutting in front of someone with just a few feet between your trailer and their bumper is not enough space Truck driver had time to avoid. He either wasn’t paying attention or he was trying to not allow jeep to get over. |
The hard headed truck driver could have prevented all of that mess if he wasn't a dumb ass. He was probably camping in the left lane too.

Originally Posted By 10mmillie: Jeep made an unsafe lane change. The law is move over or slow down by 20mph. View Quote Yep. Same thing happens with people merging onto the freeway. The 1st merger is merging too slow, and the 2nd merger is right behind the 1st. The 2nd merger trails the 1st merger into the right lane of the freeway, but then the 2nd merger signals and changes lanes to the left without checking, causing the freeway traffic in that lane to swerve or brake hard. 2nd merger should have slowed or stayed slow until they could merge safely into the next lane without interrupting the flow of traffic in that lane. It seems like Jeep didn't want to slow down, or wait for faster/passing traffic to clear, even if left lane traffic was speeding or speeding up to be an 'asshole'... so the Jeep said fuck it, I'm coming over anyways. Should the truck have slowed to prevent the collision? Of course. Did the truck speed up to be an asshole? Probably. Was the Jeep or truck or both being assholes earlier, potentially to each other? Maybe. Should the Jeep have just slowed down in his lane? Without a clear lane to the left to avoid cutting off passing traffic, yep. |
Truck did not even get on the brake until he was half way though the pile up. |
Bro truck has wheels wider than its fenders. Should ticket on that alone.
I'm saying it's on the Truck
the wreck occurred and the truck was way out in the Yellow and the Jeep was 87% in the left lane. The truck tried to yield, without coming off cruise control Im thinking the Truck drivers either a bad driver and failed to realize brakes were the call not slowly moving left or an asshole. ![]() |

Looks like the truck kept going faster than the jeep until well after the collision.
Truck had cruise set and was surfing guysonly.com |
I would put the blame on the truck. Regardless of if intentional on either side. He had plenty of time to avoid the wreck if unintentionally. If intentional he is still to blame because he couldn’t manage steering out of a love tap like that. It’s like after first contact he drive right through the trailer into the ditch and then turned incorrectly to roll the truck.
