The humble M-65. It’s a bit chilly outside tonight so I got it out of the back closet. No, it’s not good in the rain or in sub-zero temps. But for the next month or two will be great and then I can throw the liner in.

Gaze upon it and let the hate flow through you!

ETA: @dtrosch I am still loving it. Thanks again for hooking me up!

I have a woodland camo one with more wear for that. This one is too nice, it’s my church jacket.

It’s 62 currently. If I was doing anything it would be too warm but just walking around or sitting it’s a bit chilly. The mornings are heading to the forties this week, praise the lord!

Lows in the 40's and highs in the 60's are perfect weather.

I have unobtainium! A Multicam M65! Also a leather one which is a really good coat. I'm now shopping for a warm liner for it that is actually a stand-alone garment but I don't want to pay the $65 at Kohl's - its a Columbia fleece-like jacket, zip up with a standing collar. It'll go on sale before too long and I'll take the old lady's 'Kohl's cash' down there and steal it. The coat is fairly warm as is because it has a layer of thin insulation behind the sateen liner. The Multicam one came with a camel dung-colored liner so I'm set there.

I took the patches off an old fatigue blouse from when I was active duty in the mid 70s and had sewed on my fat-body M65.  It's ambiance when driving my 151.

Seems a lot of folks here like the M-65, maybe enough we can do away with the stupid "Arfcom's most hated jacket" bullshit.

I've always liked the M-65.  It looks good, it feels good, it's relatively water resistant, and with layering, does well in cold weather.  I may have a large/long I wore back in the 70-80s, if I do I'll put it in that giveaway thread.

Go ahead and look at some of the other posts about M-65s particularly the one I started a year ago when I was looking for this one and you will get my joke about most hated…sorry to offend you.

ETA: in truth GDs most hated is one of my waxed jackets.

I had one in high school, lost it some time after on drunken binge. I really loved that jacket. It was great, durable, roomy, lots of pocket space, kept you pretty dry and pretty warm.

Best jacket ever made. Works well in the rain but excels in sub-zero, arctic like conditions. No finer jacket in existence….other than perhaps a waxed cotton knee length duster.

If you don’t leave mom’s basement except on sunny fall days it’s fine.

A British wind proof smock with a wooly pully sweater is warmer than a M65.

I still have my M-65 I had to buy at Ft Sheridan because MCRD Glenview ran out of them to issue. The Reservists stole all the serviceable ones. At various duty stations in my career the commands tried to confiscate it; but I retained the purchase receipt from the Army uniform store.

Every thread, except this one apparently, it gets lambasted for not being a 3 layer Gortex extreme cold weather parka. Apparently a comfortable jacket for cool/cold weather isn’t good enough for the walk to the mailbox.
