Wow, I lost that years ago and never thought I'd get it back. My address is.....
|

Yup, you didn’t find that. That belongs to whoever the government says it does.

What is it made of? I don’t believe gold will corrode in sea water

It's fake, and the guy with the buffing wheel should get better.

Meh. I was down there last week and threw about 1500 of those fake coins on the beach. Sorry.

Neat!
Ancient, or at least very old coins were in use well into the 19th century. Silver or gold was still silver or gold. Paper money wasnt a thing until almost the 20th century. I have a friend that found a Spanish real here, nowhere near the ocean. |

Soak it some vinegar and give it a good scrubbing. Lemon juice works well too. Brasso if none of the above works.
(THIS POST IS MADE IN JEST, DO NONE OF THIS!!!) |

Appears to be a 1710 8 escudos Spanish coin. Some are worth a TON but the perfection of the strike (centering, evenness, etc...) and overall condition are a big part of old coin values. https://www.coinfactswiki.com/wiki/Peru_1710-L_H_8_escudos
also read why bro said you found it on the beach, not in the water: https://www.focusnewspaper.com/spanish-coins-dating-to-1712-found-on-florida-beach/ |

Can't tell by the photos. It'll need to be sent here for verification...

I was surprised to find a bunch of Roman coins at my local coin shop for only $20. I always thought something that old would be worth more. Guy said there are millions upon million of them out there and the only ones with real worth are ones from a documented cache like from a Pharaoh or wreck or similar.

Neat coin.
If you want more, you can get them on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Metal-Pirate-Coins-Doubloons-Realistic/dp/B08JM86N47 My guess is someone threw a bunch of them on the beach for their kids to "find". They missed this one. |

Boy I'd be a real fucking ass if I lived in FL. I think I would throw those down the beaches quite regularly. |

Does it read like brass or gold on your metal detector? Green patina looks "brassy".

Florida law requires recovery permits for individuals who want to explore or recover artifacts on state-owned lands underwater, but not on a public beach. View Quote |

Laginas gonna be mad you found their treasure not on Oak Island

AAAaaaaaarhhh Avaste Ye Matey ... yee found me buried treasure did yee? A pox and a curse be upon yee! Aaaaaaarrrrgh
But seriously, cool find! I kept hoping I'd find black beards treasure or some such someday hiking through the many State Parks we've visited over the years. Found lots of mosquitos, saw lots of nature and had a blast but never found anything cool like that. |

Save them up and next time we went to the beach we’d spread them out. I’m sure it used to amuse the metal detector guys at night. |
