Nothing is obsolete. I've carried this one a few times.

Carried mine today on a hike through the woods. Great pistol mag compatibility is a think I think about so there’s always a reload nearby if needed. I’m kinda committed to the double stack 9mm Glock for mag purposes alone.

This. My G27 is what I carried in my duffel when I was trucking. I also carried a mag of 180gr FMJs just because.

I love my 365 and XL but there are absolutely times I’d opt for my 26. Especially now that I gave it a GPT and will soon have it RMRd. It’s a very capable pistol and a competitor being a fraction of an inch thinner doesn’t change that.

I carried my Glock 27 under a plate carrier for 5 years as a backup. It was in a Kania Chest Holster with a support hand draw, works great reaching through the arm pit to draw.
It was great knowing it could take the same mags as the Glock 22 on my hip.

It makes a good pistol to carry in the jacket pocket, with a BORII holster while walking the dog too.

LOL

Why would any Glock generation 26 be “Obsolete”?

Is the Glock 26 obsolete as a carry pistol?

Would you rank it as good a choice as a P365/Hellcat/43x or worse?  If worse, how much worse?

Would having a light rail change anything?

The word obsolete means something.

A firearm in the same caliber as the supposed "non obsolete" handguns that is concealable and can reliably function with 33-round OEM magazines may not be "ideal" or "as good" at some things, but it damn sure ain't obsolete.....

I love my 26.  I think I actually shoot it better than my 19.

[Last Edit: 32ACP] [#15]
I don’t carry it any more, but I like it has an Advantage Arms .22 conversion that runs like a top with CCI.

If a G43 AA is ever introduced….maybe obsolete then?

Maybe “obsolete” isn’t right, maybe “better carry options” would be the “phraseology.”

I have had one for a while and was ambivalent about it, with a red dot sight, short sight radius doesn't matter.
I enjoy shooting it much more.
The smallest pistol that you can mount a trijicon RMR is a really good choice.
As a previous poster said, it's like goldilocks.

not at all especially as it accepts the 15-17-33rd mags I would happily carry one . I don't like the gen 5 however and would want a 3 or 4 if i was going to carry one

Obsolete definitely isn't the right term. Arguably saying there are better options as a universal statement isn't really correct either- only other options which may fit your hand better or allow you to carry in more ways. That's useful for some folks, but for others the small grip may be a drawback especially with the added felt recoil of a smaller and lighter pistol.

I think you'd have to reach surprisingly far back to get to anything that's actually obsolete. In my mind, an obsolete pistol for carry would be something like a single-action revolver or something in a chambering that's no longer commercially available. I might throw something with an unusual semi-auto action like the Luger in there but even then I kind of think any semi-auto pistol with ammo currently in production could only be called "obsolescent" at worst.

The 43x...is that the one with the 6 inch long grip that pokes out the back of a t-shirt? That's what I like about the 26...short concealable grip.

I'd trade my 43 for an obsolete 26.  43 just doesn't have enough capacity.

If Glock would make a 26 with a grip half-way between the 19 and 26, it would be perfect.  I know that there are a bunch of mag extensions available, but I'm not a big fan of extensions.

The John Wick training films prove the veracity of the Glock platform. If you get in a gunfight and shoot your Glock dry, there is a very high probability that one of the battlefield littered dead bodies of your enemies will have Glock spares on them. The Glock 26 accepts all double-stack Glock mags. Winning!

Not at all. A P80 G26 frame with a 500-lumen light, a slide milled for an RMR, and a 10rd mag with OEM +2 basepad (12+1 total) is my go-to carry piece if I'm wearing anything beyond shorts and a t-shirt.

I’ve moved into a mall-ninja FN 509CT as my EDC but the G26.3 was my choice for the 15 years prior.  Still a solid backup if I want something a hair smaller than the 509.

I started off with a 17.3 and there’s something magical about it.  Like I just can’t miss with it.  I added the 26 to make it a more realistic carry option and while it isn’t as smooth and easy as the big brother, it’s a great shooter.

I bought a 19.3 a couple years ago after all the endless blather on GD on how it was the perfect gun, thinking it could replace the 26.  Nope, I hated everything about it.  Instead of being the best aspects of the 17 and 26 it’s the worst of both.  I have a lot of 9mm handguns I’ve accumulated through the years but I don’t think I have one I hate as much as that 19.  I bought the 509CT not long after to get the capacity and capability upgrades I wanted.

So, no, I don’t think the 26 is obsolete at all.  It is a fantastic shooting, reliable, and affordable pistol.  I think the Glock MOS system sucks balls and can’t say I’d go whole hog on a 26.5 MOS though.

One advantage I have not seen mentioned. If limited to 10-round mags the G26 mag is more reliable than ban compliant G19 mags
