I guess the answer must be yes, because I expected ammo to come further down in price, but it seems to have stuck at basically +50% of what it was pre COVID. I haven’t bought much except 7.62x39 to feed the Ace.

Prices will stay stubborn if the repubs don't win the house in November. Democrats have a natural way of keeping us on edge. I think it like has something to do with Democrats always talking about banning our guns and turning the USA into a defenseless 3rd world shithole... like they do with all the cities they control..... or something like that.
Well, your dollars are worth quite literally 50% less, so it tracks.
I think prices will come down, as more people go broke or have less disposable income. I don't think there is an ammo panic going on right now, but maybe there’s a lot of government contracts to fill? |
It's still impossible to get many calibers. It's been three years since Covid started, and costs of everything went up. Why would you expect ammo prices to go back to 2019 levels given all of that
I’m closely watching the price and waiting for certain stuff to come back in stock.
I buy 9mm. A couple thousand rounds so far this year. But I’m quickly shooying it, not stashing it.
Seems to be coming down a bit, I shoot 9mm and 223/5.56 on a regular basis..
Average has been 9mm $310-$380 depending on brand and gr per 1000 223/5.56. $480. 55gr per 1000 PMC |
With inflation and the cost of raw materials, idk if we'll see 2019 prices anytime soon
Went shooting with friends last week.
Bought ammo. Shot ammo. Had guilt after shooting ammo. Going to buy more ammo and stash it. Somehow my mind still thinks in terms of early 2000’s sportsmans guide catalogs pricing. |
I’m still sitting on a pile of 5.56 that was less than .30, but could probably use some 9mm. Won’t be panic buying but if deals come along…
I buy ammo in small quantities.
Haven't bought in bulk in years. |
I recently bought some 9mm HST to replace the older stuff in the stash and what I'd been carrying. It was painful, but I'm in a position where I can afford to do so. I also bought 1K of IMI 5.56 for the stash for the same reason. This is the first time I've purchased any ammunition since the Walmart clearance event in 2019, and probably the last time for the foreseeable future. All of my target shooting needs are covered by reloads. Unless ammunition prices drop significantly, I'll continue to reload. I won't be saving money, but I'll be shooting more for the same amount of money.
Starting to restock.
Sold a bunch of everything in the panic, I can now find deals for less than half my average sell price for 9mm and 5.56 |
I just bought some 9mm from PSA for .30 per rd with free shipping.
The reviews for the AAC stuff seem good, but I did find a youtube video where someone was complaining about feeding issues. Supposed to show up today, we'll see. I still buy a little when prices are high if it is around, but obviously more at salad time. I do occasionally walk out of the store empty handed though, saying "I just can't pay that". |
except for 22LR, haven't bought ammo since started reloading a few decades ago
I bought 10K of 9mm in the last couple months. $239 delivered per 1K. Not great but not horrible. Almost bought 5K of CCI .22LR subs but it was OOS when I decided to commit. That was 9cpr, again not horrible.
Except for a couple of cases of dove rounds and a few boxes of 38 special, haven’t bought since the “adults” got in charge.
Been buying just enough to shoot a couple of times a month.
Seems to be plenty on the shelves. |
Some day, you'll look back at Sept 27, 2022 and saw, damn, ammo was cheap back then.
I buy as much as I can afford. Shooting some and stashing the rest.
I should have priced .308W before I traded for an M1A Scout a few months ago.
The best price I can find for Winchester M80 ball is @ $1.1 per rd. |
Ammo is actually at a pretty good price now considering close to 10% inflation.
Cheapest I have seen CCI SV in recent years was like $288 per 5k plus tax and free shipping. Bought some last week for $308 plus tax and shipping. Factor in 10% inflation the current price is actually a better buy than what the $288 price was. Brings the old price up to $316 when counting the 10%. |
Buying components, but yes. I was well stocked coming into this, but over 2 years into this mess I burned through all of that long ago. I shoot a couple hundred rounds every week so I have been able to get what I need, but it is a pain in the ass.
Some calibers like 6.5 Grendel disappeared for a while and recently came back on the shelves, but the components to load were around. -Mike |
I buy 2 boxes of something every time I go to academy or cabelas. Easy to stock up that way
It's been a few months since I bought any ammo. It was 2 800 packs of 22 from PSA. I really need to reload some 9mm during winter. I'm down to my last 2000 rounds.
I’m not saying by any stretch that ammo is a completely free market, but it is selling for what people are willing to pay. With few exceptions, there is no excuse here for anyone not having a well-stocked emergency and plinking stashes. “Salad Days” went on for many, many years and people were told to stock up.

Quoted: Where are you getting brass 9mm for $239/1k delivered? View Quote Here. . but $242 now. ZSR from Turkey. I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised…chrono'd right at 1150 with about 10-15 fps variance. I've shot about 3k in the last 2 months and zero malfunctions that were ammo related. Runs like a champ and is accurate. Edit: just bought another case. Fuck it….. Attached File |
Fuck no I'm not buying any ammo
Two decades of panic buying made moving a real bitch. |
I buy ammo all the time. I buy it when Midway has a free shipping deal going on and when I buy in bulk, it’s only when there’s free shipping available.
Sometimes I will buy a few boxes when I’m at Academy, but those prices are around what it costs to buy online with the shipping charges. I shoot a lot and I shoot a lot with my two boys. I wish 9mm was $.05/rd again, but it isn’t. I wish 556 was $.15/rd again, but it isn’t. I’m not going to stop shooting because of it. Inb4 sAlAd DaYs |

I recently bought a case of Belom 124gr 9mm. That works out to $16.35 delivered. That saves me $4 or so a box if I buy from Academy.

Quoted: Somehow my mind still thinks in terms of early 2000’s sportsmans guide catalogs pricing. View Quote Perception of value is a very real thing. This is why sales are better than price drops (for the seller) - creates an expectation that the low price is temporary/exceptional. If you just lower your prices then people now reset to that being "normal". |
I haven’t bought ammo since COVID, haven’t shot anything since then either. I can’t afford any meaningful amount of practice ammo.
Bought 100 rounds of 10mm hardcast yesterday.
$1.47 a round once shipping was added in. Luckily those 100 rounds is several year's worth. |
I bought a case of steel cased 556 ammo from PSA last month.
I used to never buy steel cased ammo. But I like to shoot and I like to save money too, so here I am. |
I buy a box or two when I find it. I haven't bought anything bulk in a long time.
Given inflation, current prices are not to out of line with 2015 prices.
I haven't started restocking heavily, but I'm buying a little. Normally I order from TSUSA which is cheaper than purchasing in any of the big box stores. |
Not much of a buyer at current prices, i think only a few thousand rounds of .22lr and a case of HSTs in the past year. Oh, and some slugs that were too cheap to pass up. I loaded a fair bit when components were cheap and am going to hold out for quite a while.
Now if people quit buying and prices fall further relative to inflation (which I do believe will happen sooner or later) I'll stack more of everything, but no need right now. |
LOL Due to my EE rating I can't buy on here which is saving me $$$
I am good I bought during the salad days lifetime supply of primers too |
