Definitely ask in the HTF. Most of the indoor ranges won't allow draws (other than when they are doing 'gun games') If you are an actual instructor, you might be able to get special permission.
Also, if the guy you are going to work with isn't a member of one of the private gun clubs around town, well, those aren't going to be available to you unless you/they know a member to escort you in. My private club right now, even that is not allowed with Covid. Members Only.

On one hand I get ranges not allowing it, as there's so many dumb asses, but..... fuck those ranges. Our indoor ranges allow holster draw, slings, rapid fire or whatever. The owner was just on FB for ripping up a cease and desist letter, and throwing it the face of a health official. They also have a restaurant, and they are fully open. Parking lot is jam packed daily.

Mill Creek is members only and I believe they only allow 1 visiter per member. Other options may be Parma Woods range or Pigeon Hill ranges. Both are in Missouri and about an hour away from Overland Park. Call Parma to see if will permit what you planned. Otherwise Pigeon Hill may be it. I've heard bad things about Pigeon Hill such as they have no range officers ever on site.

If you don't find something closer a good option is to run down to Bone Creek south near Pittsburg, it's a great little outdoor range and fairly inexpensive.

Centerfire shooting sports in Olathe may let you if you are there when no one else is, and you have a cool range officer. I've shot there several times and they're a good outfit arent going to look the other way so you can be a jackass, but if you demonstrate compitent gun handling they may let it slide.
Bullethole in shawnee wont allow it. Frontier justice out by the track is kind of similar story to centerfire. Not sure about the out door ranges because i go to family land if i wanna shoot outdoors. Overland park local OP. |

During the week you can rent down stairs ranges at bullet hole if nothing is going on. You are free to run drills and shoot from holster. Only downside is you just have to clip targets at end of range on wire.
Also recommend hitting up Bill with SRT group and getting some training while you are expending the ammo. |
