I wouldn't care if they were standalone checks to taxpayers.  Trillions of dollars of pork fucks us for generations until war wipes the slates clean.  We're not coming back from this printing.  The US was an average guy with a $100,000 student loan.  No way out but on the line, carrying the debt.  Now we're that guy with a $500,000 debt.  No chance of repayment.

You never know what's coming in this world but I see two slots on the wheel with the US bleeding financially off the world stage or using war to wipe debts just got a lot bigger.  Neither is all that great.

I have seen this fallacy put forward as fact now multiple times. Only 10% of the federal budget is spent on servicing the national debt so no, my tax dollars were not spent years ago.

The first stimulus (CARES Act) cost $2.2 trillion. US billionaires have $3.4 trillion in assets so yes, they could pay for it.

Less than $40 for the first check and I'm  not even sure why I got it.   Never got a second one.

My wife lost her job last year and hasn't worked for a year, still won't get a check because we both worked a lot of overtime last year.
Meanwhile my sister inlaw in Italy has dual citizenship and is a lawyer , she received the stimulus checks because she didn't work in this country.

I'm only complaining because those getting "stimulus" checks are clueless as to how this is going affect their taxes in the very near future along with increased inflation.  I have a military retirement, good-paying contract job and my wife is a teacher.  We're over the minimum for a married couple with a kid who's in college.  What you don't see is that we pay more in taxes than most people make and did get a stimulus check...and this "stimulus" is going to something we all pay for, one way or another, down the road.  Enjoy it now, just know it comes with a more painful price down the road.    

My only caution is don't think of this as complaining...we just know what's coming next.  Most of us are complaining about the shitbags who are 40-years old and bitching about their minimum wage job or too lazy to work their way out of poverty with more opportunities than any other place in the world.  

We've been disciplined, struggled at times, and sacrificed for the past 25+years; we're not "rich", but we earned every damn thing we've worked for.  The "rich" people have accountants to hide their income better than us.  Enjoy your stimulus check because you're going to see a drastic change in your taxes and inflation for essentials.

I tell every idiot who is a democrat is that democrats cannot govern.  Even when it isn't about their own pocket or power, they're too stupid to understand basic economics, debt/inflation, and what really "stimulates" an economy.  Even the most ardent Trump-haters are going to miss his economic successes very shortly...



I don't begrudge the wealthy who earned it...but I do agree, there's a lot of crony-capitalists and political corruption for many on both the lobbyist side and gov't side who are protected.  The "poors" have their place.  Some are their by choice, some are there by stupid decisions; and some are there because of bad luck or actual mental/physical disabilities.  My charity goes to help the latter...but poverty isn't a lifestyle unless you decide to stay there, it should just be a short duration or time in your life that you suffer through as you work your way out of it.  With a modicum of physical or mental capacity, there is no reason you should be enslaved to poverty.  

The big issue is that those in poverty are too comfortable to work their way out of it and "free" handouts or stimulus" just encourages that comfort.  The truly wealthy will just protect their wealth and the middle class will get stuck with the bill.

What a ridiculous question.  Because the stimulus checks are redistribution when not given to everyone.   If those that pay the most get 0 and those that pay 0 get something it just a form of socialism.  It’s shocking how against socialism on here are until they get a taste of free shit.  At that point it all goes out the window.  

When you look at those incomes do you know how much they contribute to the tax pool?  Just the top 1% pays 35% of all taxes collected while making 17% of income.  Once you get to the top 5% of tax payers you roughly 90% of all taxes paid.  So the group that pays nearly all the taxes is just matching the government rack up debt with no benefit.  Further, when they need to raise taxes to cover this mess; guess who gets the tax increase?   The same people who are already paying really all the taxes and not those that got these wonderful checks that ran up trillions more in debt.

On the other hand I don’t think Government workers and any others who’s jobs were not impacted by COVID-19 should receive..  
Harsh but government employees continued to get paid when others were layed off or had reductions in pay.

There are people who need help and I am ok with that ..
