House Bill 3653, which passed by a 60-50 vote, will change use-of-force guidelines, require body cameras for every police department in the state, end cash bail, and strip collective bargaining rights relating to discipline from police unions. The Senate passed the bill in the early morning hours of Wednesday by a 32-23 vote. View Quote |

Didn't see anything about defunding.
Also, this part at least sounds good, "strip collective bargaining rights relating to discipline from police unions" |

One major problem that Democrats have, is that they never ask the all important question: "If I do this... what happens next"?
They are going to find themselves in trouble - very shortly. |

[#6]
Don't agree with the changes, but they brought some of this shit down on themselves.

Change of use of force guidelines would be nice to see more training and less shooting unarmed people.

So, anonymous, unsworn, unsigned complaints can get cops fired. Police departments will be flooded with bogus complaints.

Just from what little I have heard on the talk radio shows, it strips the qualified immunity away from police too.
And then they must have forgot to put in this bill, to take the police out of schools. So they just filed another.... |

Quoted: Don't agree with the changes, but they brought some of this shit down on themselves. View Quote Oh I absolutely agree. Nothing good will come of this bill but they've been pissing off the general public for years and just recently started making enemies among the middle class by enforcing shutdowns among other BS so this was inevitable. |

[#15]
Bail is the only problem I got with it. I wish they kept the end of qualified immunity part.

[#16]
I’m really surprised the no cash bail wasn’t only for a certain demographic on the guise of and issued as “lower income earners and Covid relief” and I’m not kidding.

View Quote It started off as HB 163 which went even further and included the part you mentioned. The bill that passed was the watered down version. |

I read the bill. I would hate to be a cop in Illinois.
That said, the libertarian in me really likes a lot of the provisions in it. |

If "it" kicked off right now, it would be the cops and Antifa against the normal people. Anything that takes the teeth out of the police, right now is a good thing

View Quote You think white people come to court once there's no cash bail? BWAH HA HA HA Cops should be thrilled at the body cam requirement. There should be a dash cam requirement too. I'd run a camera everytime I did anything as a cop. I was just watching a body cam videos where one cop had no camera but two others nearby did. I'd bet money jurors are going to start being a lot more skeptical of the police when there's no camera. The bail stuff sounds like NY. Have fun with that use of force thing may be a huge problem . here hte sheriff has to have a meeting with the community to discuss use of force, I'm skeptical much will change (nor should it, really cops should go back to bonking people with billy clubs v. the present use of force: karate fight/wrassle->taser, get more of an ass kicking->uh oh Bang!) |

This is one step closer to the state, and eventually the fed running policing across the board in this country. Edit: and your assumption is borderline retarded |

I think we on the right are looking at this entirely incorrectly. Without the police to enforce liberal diktat, the laws are laughably toothless. Go ahead and defund every police department across the nation entirely and fire every fucking cop. Then go ahead and ban guns. Consider: Speed Limits. If there were no police, would ANYONE go even remotely close to the speed limit? (Outside areas like on an icy curve, etc) The sooner we realize collectively that the Police are absolutely, 100%, not on our side in the slightest bit, the better off we are. |

Sounds like a brilliant plan... everything you and I actually want cops to be focused on will be completely ignored and everything we don't want them to do will be their primary focus. |

The funny part that people don't seem to realize is that if politicians can fix the problem, that means politicians caused the problem to begin with. Plus since democrats run IL, that means democrats caused the problem.

Wonder if the "other hand" move post defund the police is a massive increase in the 3 letter govt agencies?
Fewer cops to enforce fewer street level crimes, a metric butload of new fedbois to go after tax, gun, white collar and "white supremacy" stuff? Seems like a great combo move for anarcho-tyranny. |
