A snub-nose 38 Special with lead rnd nose. Phenomenal performance.

All the greats in the 1970's carried one. They provided one-shot-stops and accuracy out to 200 feet.

To answer the question: a Colt Cobra, Agent, or Detective Special.

I voted 1911 only because the pill didn’t have a Desert Eagle chambered in .380.

I had to pick the M1 Carbine since apparently a fictional detection can't have a fucking fictional gun.

To quote the game, deja vu, "There's nothing more handy than a .38 special at your side!"

Yeah, I have seen those, they are homebrew kludges that don’t function like a factory pistol would.

If it is some sort of Sci-fi neo-noir. Then something like a Mateba or Rhino to get the future retro vibe.

Poll fail because no BHP.

I'm almost a real detective, and I carry an issued G17 gen5, but when I think "fictional detective" I think Los Angeles 1949...
in which case, I'd carry an FN P35 that I captured from a German Fallschirmjager during the war.

I'd have also kept other military goodies for the big fight scene near the end.

Former Detective (promoted to Supervisor) and based on some of my previous do nothing coworkers in the bureaus, there are definitely "Fictional" Detectives in this day and age.

1911.  If it's good enough for Magnum, PI and Harry Bosch, it's good enough for me.

Ok, yes to pistol-whipping then. Next question, well off intellectual or down on his luck gumshoe?

Also, what year does the first episode of FO Mystery theater take place in?

My ideal choice of captured WWII SMG would be the Soviet PPSh-41 but I wouldn't turn down a Grease Gun either.
