The rules for this hypothetical are:
- you have to buy one firearm - you cannot turn around and sell it - you do not get to keep the rest of the money (if it's less than $10K) - you cannot spend the rest of the money on accessories, optics, etc. - it can be used or new What would you get? I think I would get something historical, like a really nice condition WW1 Colt 1911, or perhaps a Revolutionary War-era muzzle-loader (if one can be found for that price). |

Even the nicer rifles I'd like to own can be built for under $4k. And 10k won't cover a real Thompson SMG. But if you gave me a coupon for $10k off the Thompson, uh, I'd probably buy one.

Barrett or a MAC with a couple of uppers.

The gun from Heat.

If I can find a like-new machine gun like an m11/9 that could be adapted to uppers with other calibers, I'd go that route. But the budget might be too low for that.
Barring that, I'd get a high end long range precision rifle with an optic to match. I'd have to do some research before getting any more specific. |
Lugerman 45acp Luger or maybe a Stan Chen Custom 1911 (I think they're under $10k).
A 1911 in .455 Webley would be cool too. I just found out about those a few weeks ago and have had a hard-on for once ever since. |
Something with a fun switch, preferably belt fed.
Probably one of the semi-only M249s.
Not because it's a great gun or anything, but because I have a Counter-Strike collection and I really, really don't want to have to drop $10k of my own money on one. |

No way I'm good enough to wring all 10k out of the gun on the clock, but I imagine a $10,000 2011 feels awesome ![]() And, as noted, 10k will only get you into the territory of a few MGs these days ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Maybe a nice double rifle of some persuasion perhaps.
Maybe a .416 Rigby and then be like Quigley and those fellows don't you know. With exquisite scrolling and fancy woodwork on the stock and barrel someone would likely be spending more than 10G total though. Some elephant magnum express or something of that nature. Now, just visualize that shot for a moment if you will. You know? I mean, .50 cal is getting to be such a drag to shoot these days anyway. |
