It would be this. Stihl MS500i with a 28" bar.  Fuel injection is amazing, and this saw rips.

Oh to be young.

My 12.8 lb 60cc Jonsered works well with me.  Glad I have the option of grabbing an 8.6 lb MS 170 when I don't need the size\power bar of the 60cc.

Thankfully I don't have to do that part of the job often. I pretty much just fell and buck trees and run equipment. This thing is pretty much the best of both worlds between what I used to use, which was a 440 and a 650.

I'm only part time help at this point for my dad's company. My full time gig is a rope access technician.

I like mine too OP.

It is not much heavier than the Farm Boss, just 1.6 pounds more.  Of course some more weight for the longer bar and extra chain.

Mine cuts so damn good and quick compared to the old Farm Boss I burned up.  My cutting time has been decreased incredibly compared to the old saw.

It's not bad honestly. And I can put a shorter bar on if needed. Stihl now makes these ultralight bars that have aluminum inside and are about 1/3 lighter than normal. But they're kind of fragile if you're felling trees constantly.

The farm boss is a pig on the power to weight side of things. Not a bad saw just heavy for the power it has.

Ported 440mag with a 25 inch and 16 inch bar.   Perfect compromise.   The 462 will hang with a 500i also.

I just bought a couple of these for my different size chains.  Make sure you get the genuine stihl versions, not the chinese knockoffs all over ebay and amazon.  The files are very good, and it seems to do a good job sharpening both rakers and teeth.

According to the specs the 500 is only lacking 10% HP but is 20% lighter than the 661.  I can also confirm this because I have both in my garage.

So IMO, unless all you're doing is big bucking, the 500i is a better all around saw.  My 661 rarely runs now.  500i does almost all the felling, limbing, and bucking.  661 has more low end grunt, it can pull more aggressive chain while getting leaned on harder but cut speed isn't that much better with the 661 in 95% of cutting scenarios in my experience.

It's a sweet saw.

I picked up a 500i with full wrap handles, 25in bar, and large dogs back in March and have about 15 tanks through it.  Absolutely rips.  Mostly used for bucking up Doug fir and Ponderosa up to 35in. in diameter.  What used to be minutes with my 291 is now done in seconds.  Never thought the full wrap would be as useful as it is, but I recommend them.  Runs fawsome.  Would buy again or at least a 462.

Some guys are saying there are fines getting in the intake because of the air filter design, but I haven't seen any in my saw.  But I did stick a piece of 1/4 in foam under the cover as a precaution.  Also it's seems a little sensitive with one month old mix.  Fresh mix, zero issues.

For my purposes the 500i is perfect.

The only reason for a 661 would be milling or running a 32+ inch bar.  But for that I rather have a ported 395xp.

I'm absolutely sure they can, but just not by me.

The problem I've always had with small gas lawn stuff is that if you're not using it on a weekly basis, when you go to use it, it doesn't work.
But I realize there are people that are much better at keeping them running than me.

So far, I'm surprised every time I push the button on my Bobcat and it starts!

460/462 first choice, but not in stock I got the last 500i.

A few Huskies were in stock on the shelf but that dealer would not even bother to come over and talk to me, or the true logger guys. The 3 of us all walked out, i went to the other dealer in town, logger guys headed down to Longview to buy.

Easily that store lost out on over $2500 on sales in a 15 min span.
