Sometime last year I began to wear gloves every single time I left the camphouse. I know they've saved me some pain and suffering more than once. Honestly, it feels weird to shoot/drive/etc. without them now.

So sorry you wont have time with "the stranger" for like a month or two. But take it easy on him when he rejoins you. You do not want to reopen that tear

I buy the three packs of mechanics gloves when Lowe’s has them on sale. They’re everywhere! Seriously though, soon enough you’ll feel nekkid without a pair on. |

I've got almost the same scar on my hand. From something else though.

Table saw took off about a 1/4" of my left index finger
Had surgery, hand all bandaged, sitting on the floor leaning back against the couch, hand resting palm side down on the carpet, my toddler walks by and steps on my hand Wife had to peel me off the ceiling |

I grabbed the edge of a corrugated steel panel when I fell.

Two things im a sucker for, a nice pair of gloves and flashlights... last time i bout "snipped the tip" of my finger, I dropped a hydraulic cartridge valve cover block, went to catch it in mid air as it fell. The enertia took further than expected and the edge of metal block and the lower metal shelf sharp edge and about cut the very tip off. Wrapped it up with electrical tap and wore gloves for the next several days. Hurt like hell. Lost a little sensation in the tip after that one. |
