I honestly think most virus religion believers don’t ever want it to go away.
Look at the doomer thread. They love it. |

The responses to Cuomo stating the NY economy needed to reopen were eye opening. These seemed to be the bulk...
“Nooooo! What are you crazy!?” “Nooooo! Just pay everyone to stay home and businesses to stay closed until it goes away!” “Nooooo! Just tax the billionaires dry and hand it out until everyone is vaccinated!” |
I'd say about half of them are just paranoid people, the other half just want to virtue signal.
Can't argue with that. And jamming their fear in other people's faces is a high.

i'm an essential worker. i've been in the office every day like normal during all this.
i miss driving during the early days of the pandemic. now, no one stays home anymore, and the non-essentials suck at driving. |

It’s a new found empowerment for many. People like Cuomo also used it to balance their state Medicaid budgets.

I work from home, and we do conference calls over Skype and Zoom all the time. I can't tell you how many people start the calls by chatting about COVID, and lockdowns, and being careful, and don't venture out, and we need to stay locked down for safety, and all that B.S. It's like they are comparing dick sizes, but with COVID-awareness tips. I just stay quiet, cause I just want the call to end as fast as possible.

Many of them (schoolteachers for example) are just lazy fucks who never want to go back to working like normal. Others are sincerely terrified it’s going to kill everyone and turn your organs into liquid shit.

I think it has more to do with they don't want to believe their government would ever host a hoax and lie to them in order to pull off a successful coup and push us further into the throes of socialism.

Its how they can feel important, like they're doing something.
Our nation doesn't really have any deadly challenges anymore, so when someone can claim to have suffered in order to avoid death, or to keep others safe, they want to be that hero. Witness all the nursing circle jerking. They have the best PPE, training, testing, etc. and they demand hero status over the WalMart worker who stands in one place for 10 hours checking out 5k customers with just a Daisy Duck mask and a bottle of Purell. People want attention, they want to be heroes. Now they get to be, and they don't have to work very hard for it, and they're reluctant to give that up. |

My SIL is absolutely paralyzed with fear over COVID. She literally screamed at my wife, a few months ago, that she was going to infect her and her newborn because she works in a nursing home.
Many are using it as an excuse to fail.
Failing is what quite a lot of people do best. You can bet that they don't even want to think about this whole thing ending. |

Can't believe how many "conservatives" I've seen reveling in their free check and upset that it was 600 instead of more. |

I'm a ton more of the mind that there are a ton of paranoid delusional people in this country. AOC is a good example. If she's not actually paranoid delusional, she's fueling it. I saw bits of her video she put out and holy shit she is either batshit insane, or is trying to push insane theories.

My lib brother in law. Scared to death. Lives in ny state and loves his government control. I just shake my head in amazement, and laugh about it with my mother.
It's more victimhood. It's more reasons why their lives are pitiful. It's identity politics through mask vs no mask.
It's an excuse to be a failure. Not my fault, its covid! If covid goes away some people will have to adult again. Why do that when you can sit inside in your jammies all day and post on social media how bad Trump is and how you cant wait to see everybody again, really, any year now.

Fear has become a virtue for a great many people.
My ex-wife has been working from home since February, and she couldn't be happier. |
I'd be cool with no more of my family members dying, but thats just me.
what round for grandpa? he was old anyway |

It's been two weeks since I've seen a mask. Being out in the middle of nowhere is nice.

meh.......just getting over it, wasn't any worse than the flu

OP is not wrong. It's one reason people sit in front of cable new clutching their pearls.
If there's nothing real they make stuff up in their mind to be afraid of, and they actually seek out fear. Even fake fear, it doesn't matter. To make matters worse, they drag the children into it. We are raising an entire generation of neurotic bed wetters. |
Wait until the maskers need to be deprogrammed and have to attend mask withdraw support groups to be able to not wear one in public.
I believe that is plausible and had not thought of it from that view point. People love drama and it is definitely drama.

They've never expericenced actual hardship so they're inventing it to feel important. Its fucking disgusting. The part that pisses me off the most is rice rabies has ushered in a complete reversal of the concept, innocent until proven guilty. You are guilty of being sick and diseased until proven healthy. |

I’m addicted to working from home. I don’t want to go back to the office.

It's not virus fear. It's just fear.
They need the government to protect them. |
I do A lot of zoom meetings I go out and don't live in fear. But the thing I like about zoom is I don't have to be around people
I occasionally listen to a few old farts on one of the CB frequencies. They eat up everything Mama Government says about the virus and don't question a thing they're being fed.
I nicknamed their hangout "The Fear Channel". |
There are a few like that at my company. Ive been WFH since April. I'll be honest, I wouldn't mind 1 more summer WFH. Last summer was the best summer of my working adult life. The doom and gloom bunch, keep telling everyone to be safe for at least 8 more months ??
It's more of the same. Most people don't actually want freedom, hell they wouldn't even know what to do with it. They want safety. More specifically they want someone else to be responsible for their safety. And with that they'll go along with whatever they're told.
That’s a bingo.....I talked to someone today that’s petrified his parents will get it and die, only slightly less worried for himself.

Now my boss is talking some nonsense about “hopefully we can all be back in the office soon.” Fuck that. I can work just fine here at home. If you need to go to the office, then you can take your happy ass to the office. |
