Go to a HF store and try.
Craftsman used to be the bees knees because they has that sweet warranty. Bring the tool to Sears, no receipt, dont matter how old it is, and they give you a new one. Now I believe most tool companies do the same. See "lifetime hand tool warranty" https://www.harborfreight.com/customer-service-return-exchange.html Doesnt mention needing a reciept. I'd call it good and find a quality replacement. Torque wrench is the one tool I don't cheap out on.

Probably will replace it.
Get a Tekton torque wrench if you want good for a decent price. Get CDI or precision instruments if you want really good for a decent price. |

Yes I’ve had HF replace a torque wrench without a receipt if they clearly can ID it as one of their models. They make you sign something so they can track who is returning items.

I've never had a problem with returns there.
In fact I won a 3/4" torque wrench in a contest at my last job, it turned out to be worth $90 or so and I knew I'd never need a 3/4" torque wrench for anything. I brought it down there in person, explained that I hadn't even bought it myself but was wondering if I could exchange it for something I had a use for, and they were 100% OK with that. Came home with $90 worth of other chinese stuff instead. A couple weeks ago I received a 10-pack of their plastic ammo cans (I use them to sort stuff in the garage), when they arrived there were only 9 in the box and 6 of them were broken. I drove to the nearest store and explained, they gave me replacements no questions asked other than my order number. I've found them to be super easy to deal with. |

I went today and exchanged it for a new one. No problems at all. Guy at the door just said go grab a new one and take it to the counter and they'll exchange it. They done good.
