under their lifetime hand tool warranty?  I don't have the receipt; it was purchased many years ago.  The stem on the adjustment knob broke.

Call 'em. Ask.

You don't have the receipt?

Did you not realize it would break?

Harbor Freight.

Go to a HF store and try.

Craftsman used to be the bees knees because they has that sweet warranty. Bring the tool to Sears, no receipt, dont matter how old it is, and they give you a new one.

Now I believe most tool companies do the same.

See "lifetime hand tool warranty"

https://www.harborfreight.com/customer-service-return-exchange.html

Doesnt mention needing a reciept.

Hand Tool Lifetime Warranty
We guarantee our Hand Tools to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product. Limitations apply. Harbor Freight Tools will replace any hand tool that fails to properly work during the lifetime of the original purchaser. In the event an identical item is not available as a replacement: Harbor Freight Tools reserves the right to substitute a substantially similar item in its place. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may have other rights that vary from state to state

I'd call it good and find a quality replacement. Torque wrench is the one tool I don't cheap out on.

I doubt it without receipt. Of course they change workers like diapers around here so you never know.

Probably will replace it.

Get a Tekton torque wrench if you want good for a decent price.

Get CDI or precision instruments if you want really good for a decent price.

I don't know about HF but Sears won't replace a broken Craftsman torque wrench.

I didn't have issues getting my 2 torque wrenches replaced.

Yes I’ve had HF replace a torque wrench without a receipt if they clearly can ID it as one of their models.  They make you sign something so they can track who is returning items.

Pay with cash or card? If you used a credit card = there will be a transaction receipt somewhere in their database.

I replaced one. Just walked in and explained the situation.  They grabbed a new one and handed it to me.  Took 30 seconds

I went today and exchanged it for a new one.  No problems at all.  Guy at the door just said go grab a new one and take it to the counter and they'll exchange it.  They done good.
