[ARCHIVED THREAD] - I had a weak moment...

and succumbed to the Black Friday $50 off sale on the Oculus Rift w/ Touch bundle. I paid $349 on Newegg (I didn't post a link because the sale will be over in a few hours).

So, what games am I going to want to get? I read some good reviews of Skyrim VR... I wasn't really able to get into the game in 2D; is it a lot more engaging in 3D? What games would someone who plays mostly FPS games like?

I saw my local wal mart had some VR devise on clearance for $1
was normal priced at $49.97
they had a metric shit ton of them

VR is fantastic for flight and racing sims, but personally I really don't think it has much of a place outside of that.

these are my thoughts as well. I was very underwhelmed. I feel like it's been overhyped for the past couple of years. I don't doubt that someday it will get a lot better, but at the time being, I've sold both sets that I've had.

It's an empty pair of goggles you slide your smartphone into. And the better kits have a bluetooth hand controller for clicking and pointing.

The quality of the experience is directly related to how new your phone is. None are as good as an Occulus, but it's still pretty "holy shit!" by early 2000's standards.
