Wouldn't have taken five attempts in one of my JKUs.  That's little more than a speed bump for a Wrangler.

LOL. Car-like ride at 80 on the highway.

Car-like ride and a slight modicum of off-road ability. How is this news?

BTW, my Wranglers cruise just fine at 95-100 mph.

While the 2014+ Cherokee KL is quite capable, it will never compete with a Wrangler. Yes I owned a 2016 Cherokee and loved it. But I also knew its limitations. Same goes for my son's Compass Trailhawk. One hs to remember that on the Compass and Cherokee, they do not have a true 4 wheel drive system like the Wrangler or the older Cherokee and Liberty. The newer Cherokee and Compass are an all wheel drive system.

late to this one but I actually like the Cherokee looks.  we have a 2014 GC Limited and its a nice ride.  I've done minor off roading with and have been very surprised at what these things can do.  Sure Wranglers are way better at it but it's still cool that they can do what they do while still falling into the vehicle category they do.

Thanks for sharing Butternut.

The Compass, Renegade, and Cherokee are quite capable for being unibody's. Especially if you get the Trailhawk package. If I didn't need a truck, I would have kept my 2016 Cherokee. While I never did any crazy off-road stuff with the Cherokee, it never let me down or stuck either. I know my son loves his 2018 Compass Trailhawk and is always giving his wife trouble about her 2016 Subaru Crosstrek.

Seems like an acceptable grocery getter.

I found that the 3.2 had plenty of power for the Cherokee. Now if they would only fit that into the Compass and Renegade. I had a Renegade and the 2.4L wasn't bad, but a 3.2L would be better. My 2018 Renegade got totaled and I ended up replacing it with a 2016 Cherokee to get the higher towing capacity.

That was, literally, all in a day's work for the bone stock issue full size 1983 Cherokee with 4.2 liter inline 6 with a street 4 speed manual & low range I used on the job back then.  Rode like a truck, though.
