Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see any stalking in the original video.

Charge that bitch and show it who is boss....
Looks down at house cat (sub 10 lbs), looks at scars from said fur ball..... "I got this." |

That was as big mamma. I suspect she was out looking for breakfast, and while she looked interested, she definitely didn't look threatened. Had the hiker been a smaller kid or petite lady...attitude might have changed for breakfast-interests. At that distance, gun would be out and I would be saying nice things, like "go away kitty".
Big cats scare the shit out of more than any other critter on the Northern Hemisphere. Sure, a brownie or moose can fuck you up dead, but they don't make my hairs stand up on my neck like a cat. I've had two encounters with mountain lions. One had been running from something and ran almost into me; spooked us both The second was bow hunting on the east side of the Cascades and I was rounding a rock wall, something felt weird, I looked up and a big cat was looking down at me, literally 10 feet above me...once I saw her (I prefer her, sounds better for a cougar), she backed up and disappeared...it distracted me the rest of the morning and I was constantly looking over my shoulder. I carry when outdoors more for two-legged threats, but don't ignore a hungry or territorial cat or bear. ROCK6 |

I was told by a friend that lives on the Mesa up out of Ridgway that there are more lions now in CO than ever in history. CO forest and wildlife management is despicable. They only thing better is to introduce wolves.....oh wait.

The problem with cats is you typically don't see them. Aside from hunting them, I've only seen a couple of cats in the wild. I have had eerie feelings before, and doucled around to find cat tracks in mine while elk hunting and hiking. You usually see the bear following you, but almost never the cat.

I would take that over the ear buds wearing, candy bar munchers, stomping around today with no clue of their surroundings. |

I'd rather see a stalking lion than not see the stalking lion.

If you zoom into that sign, it says "Do not feed the mountain lion."
That cat was just too lazy to move, that dude wasn't being stalked. Almost looked like it was getting up from nap or something. Note the tumor(s) on it's belly. It's old and probably not as much of a go-getter as it was. Probably makes it a bit less concerned about people but also more likely to try to eat one. (It could be lactating as well, but that looks like "really old cat belly" to me.) |

I've seen 5 mountain lions around here in the last few years. 1 was absolutely enormous and pure muscle. I was glad to be in my truck when i saw him.
Another time i hiked up on 2 mountain lions at 3AM, but i had dual PVS-14's on and a suppressed 300 BLK. It was pitch black and i tried to get as close as possible while sneaking up on them with the IR laser trained on their foreheads. Pretty fun night. They were watching me the entire time and ran off before i could get within 50 yards. |

We got there at night and were unloading the truck. We heard what I thought was a woman being absolutely slaughtered just 100 yards away. It was so insane I thought it was some hidden camera tv show or something. Sounded exactly like that. |

Quoted: Imagine hearing this while you're strolling through the woods... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE7YOJVSoIs View Quote Most people unfamiliar with mountain lions will attribute those sounds to them, but they can also make other ones that many won't. Some that I've heard before are whistling sounds: https://youtu.be/oVZCAQP6eQM?t=104 and a sort of "yewing" sound, of which I can't seem to easily find a recording. At one time, I was hiking up a trail and passed by a tree where some grouse were hiding out, making sounds, but there were some other sounds I couldn't identify. I must have spooked whatever it was because it retreated further into the trees, with a few pauses while doing so. It was weird, each time it moved, the sounds gave away the general area of where it was, but I couldn't visually identify any movement. It almost seemed like it was invisible. I'm pretty sure it was a mountain lion, because later on I did see one in that same general area. |

Trail cam mentioned then said he was sitting 20 yards behind him. I feel like this was a guy waiting for deer and turned around and lion was sitting behind him.

Lets not forget this terrifying video of a man being stalked by a cougar for a full 6 minutes!

I don't think that I'd trust it to not come back after leisurely strolling off like that...
I think after it had a little distance I'd fire a few shots into the ground around it to spook it off and make it get the point. |
