Every summer we take a trip, usually to fish. The last 4 years we’ve went fly fishing in either Wyoming or Ennis Montana. We own vacation homes in the Black Hills of SD and haul our side by sides up there several times a year as a family, so that’s out. He’ll be 21. What are some great things you’ve done with your boys?

Safari in South Africa. Summer here is winter there. It will be a trip he will never forget.

When I was 13 my dad got a float plan and forest. Service cabin in SE AK for 3 days for me and my cousin. We flyfished and ate spam. It was awesome.
My cousin is 10 years older than me so he was a great teacher He lived up there and new the ropes |

Something totally different. Get a little cottage in Marathon or Islamorada, rent a boat for a week and fish the reef and the backwater. You'll be grilling the best fish you ever tasted every night.
My son and I go sailfishing every winter over in Stuart but that doesn't help you with June. We also fly fish near our cabin in the Nantahala Gorge but sounds like you do that a lot. Try the Keys, it's pretty awesome. |

I did a 5 day canoe trip in Quetico Park, Ontario when I was in HS that was damn cool.
I believe you can do much the same thing in the Boundary Waters of MN. |

There's a youtube channel called outdoor boys. Dude takes his kids on all types of hunting fishing trips and posts the info of the venues iirc. Some off the beaten path stuff.
I'd look there for some inspiration. Def. good enough for adults too. |

I hiked and fished the Beartooths and the Bighorns, IM me and we can chat on the phone if you like.
I like the Bighorns, and there are places you can go with few people if you are willing to hike. The south side of the Beartooths in Wyoming can get a little crowded, but I know of a few places where solitude is available. IM me and we can talk on the phone… |
