And next evening, and the next, etc.
Some of you may know me from the other forums, some may not. I spent most my time in the technicals, but had been in GD more recently. I also moderate the 3D Printing forum. I'm on ARFCOM way too much and have notifications of IMs go to my phone, so I'm easy to get ahold of if you have such a need.
At this point, I don't immediately see the need for any special rules outside of the normal CoC, though I may insta-ban anybody who calls a snowmobile a "snow go" or "snow machine"
.
As for my personal interests in the off-road world, I grew up on ATVs, snowmobiles and some dirt bike riding. I did a lot of snowmobile riding in northern MN and a lot of ATV riding in the badland foothills of SD. Once I had kids, that was all shut down sans for some snowmobiling for the first couple years, but it all ended as I went unemployed and sold all my toys. Fast forward to now and I'm getting back into it as my oldest is now a teenager. We have a copy of my old snowmobile (a 98? Arctic Cat EXT 580 EFI), a 2005 (or 2004?) Polaris Sportsman 400 that we bought from my FIL that my wife and him picked out from new, and my Honda Pioneer 700-4 deluxe is scheduled to be shipped to my dealer on 9/30
. I don't foresee dirt bikes anymore.
I also have an itch to try overlanding, but that will have to wait until my son is an adult and we have more help for my 7 year old who is severely disabled. I have a current road driving Ford Excursion, and that will likely become my overlanding rig as it already has had a bunch of work and upgrades done. We don't have anywhere in MN to take such a rig, which is why I never got into it before and won't be for a while. MN is pretty much limited to UTVs, ATVs, OHMs, snowmobiles. Yes, there are places for jeeps, but not like out west unless you have private property.
I don't follow what people do or say in GD, and I RARELY use the ignore feature, so whatever happened in GD stays in GD; DO NOT bring GD feuds into this forum. I'm sure there will be plenty of Brand vs Brand, and as long as those don't turn into personal attacks and purse swinging, I don't foresee issues. Keep in mind this should be a family-friendly forum, so keep your calendar pics to BOTD. Of course, all sales need to stay in the EE and CoC says no posting links to EE listings.
This forum is for any off-road powersports and related discussion, so we should see an interesting mix of topics!
Feel free to IM me questions, use the report button if needed, and HAVE FUN!
