Tired of being overweight and I hate running so I decided to get a heavy bag.

Problem is the bottom of the rafters in my basement is only 6'8"  .

Anyone know of something I could do to raise the bag a bit?

I bought this bag

And this mount

But it seems like this would be a bit low and that jabs and straight punches would be near the top of the bag/where the chains mount.

2x6,8,10 screwed (many many screws) to the sub-floor between the rafters.

Be sure to use screws that won’t penetrate the floor surface above.

Minimum 6’ long and maybe a generous amount of construction adhesive.

Know that once it’s installed it’s there forever.

Pull the chains higher and go through the links. Buys you a few inches.

Be sure to brace joist to adjacent joists on each side so it can't twist. Don't ask how I know.

Buy a stand and put it outside. That bag will last thirty years outside.
