This is not your grail gun.
This is not your list of must haves.
This is not the 5 firearms everyone must own.

These are the firearms you kinda sorta want but even when a deal presents itself you decide to spend the money elsewhere.
Yet somehow you still look at them and think maybe, just maybe, one day you will buy it.

Here are mine:
S&W 5906 since it was in so many TV shows and just looks like a handgun should. But it is heavy and even though it is cheap, I don't feel like dropping $300 on it.
MAS 36. I have all of the other WWII rifles, but not one from Fance. I like the way it looks, but I don't want to drop $500 on a surrender monkey rifle.
Savage Model 24. Is it a shotgun or a rifle? It's both! It seems like a cool concept but not for the money they are going for.
AR10. I feel like I should own one, but I don't.
HK VP9. Man they feel really ergonomic and it shot great when I rented it. But it is another striker fired polymer gun. Meh.

What are your "I'll get around to buying one someday" guns?

Valmet.

Sig 550.

FNC.

Who am I kidding? I NEVER have the kind of money that could buy any one of those guns, and if I did, I'd pay down my credit card and fix the tranny leak in the 9,400 year old Corvette in the car-hole.

Any shotgun larger than a 12 gauge. Can't hunt with them most places, and the ammo is absurd. I'd only keep one for bragging rights.

An SKS is a fun gun to shoot and still a deal at around $3-400. Everyone should own a revolver, probably an SAA in 45 Colt.

Goddamnit man, you can get a Garand from the CMP for around $650. DO IT!! Also the 1873 in 45 Colt is a necessary companion for an SAA.

I like bond arms. I personally know one of the founders. I just can’t spend the cash for a derringer. They are pretty cool though.

Sorta want a Mini Uzi, kinda want an ACR. I'd like a Galil but they are heavy AF, use a proprietary magazine and my HK93 type has that niche covered.

Had a Valmet 71/6 in 223 - never got around to shooting it and it is the least desirable of the Valmets - it got sold off after about 14 years of owning it (and mags are near unobtainium)

Always wanted a real Sig 550 - settled on getting a 556 Patrol - wanted the 551A1 but they killed production before meaningful numbers were made

FNC - yeah, those are good guns - have had a couple and they are cool but honestly don't do anything that multiple other guns do - still a unique piece of history

G36C clone or conversion
UMP clone or conversion

Those two there are always near the top of my list, but then I come to my senses.  The G36 won’t displace my MK18 and the UMP won’t displace my MP5.  And between the two, you’re looking at $4000-10000.  So I don’t do it.

Wilson 1911.  Had the chance to buy it and procrastinated.  It was the right gun too.

FN 5.7/P90.  I know it’s two guns, but I’ll group them both here.  The want is similar for both, but just haven’t bothered to drop the coin on either.

HK MR762.  I want to SBR one into an “assualter” but again, even though a gun has come up every once in a while, it’s still a $5000-6000 project all-in.  Just haven’t really committed to buying one.
