Long story short, I put it on upside down .

After it healed, I noticed that part of my finger had the fingerprint upside down. It took years to get any feeling back, which was not great as I used to play the guitar and it was harder to feel just where I was on the frets.

BTW, my fingerprint on that finger is still upside down

Dessicating it in a dehydrator would work well, just like some jerky, but it will distort the tip, and shrivel up.

You might want to try the formalin to preserve, and then a slow air dry, but still , it's gonna shrink up a bit.

Other than that, I have no actual scientific input. The epoxy idea looks cool, I would definitely soak in formalin first so it doesn't rot.

@fish223

Formalin would work. I’m hoping they’ll find the bone somewhere in the shop and that’ll be the trinket

He could attempt plasticization. Idk how much is open source but I believe they use pressure/vacuum w/ acetone, then pressure with plasticization agents.

When I was a kid, the dentist I went to had a bat preserved in a block of clear acrylic or something. Maybe you could do that.

Honestly, that looks worse than what I’m dealing with, at least mines gone and I don’t have to deal with 2 to 3 inches of scar tissue on the side of my finger

I think yours is worse. I pretty much have full use of it. Just has a permanent bend to it now.

If this is correct, you need formalin, not formaldehyde, and I can send you a small pre-filled pathology bottle to pop it into.

Alternatively, I would recommend a dehydrator on a low temp for a couple of days.

LOL

I did the same thing about 20 years ago but to my left thumb. Surprisingly very little blood. I rinsed it off in the kitchen sink then
glued it back together with super glue. Wrapped it with bandaids and duct tape.

GTG!

Here's my last boo boo. It wasn't squirting blood so I decieded to not spend the money on treatment. Not anywhere near the seriousness as other injuries here.

The only parts that lost is the majority of the bone (MIA) and whatever the surgeon took off to clean it up
