Looks exactly like the sort of person that I would expect to end up in that situation.

And, this comment doesn't surprise me at all:
"There was like $5000 worth of damage, and she hopes Google Maps will make it right."

Remember when people weren't retarded and didn't need maps let alone GPS to know that staying on a major highway is the best way to navigate across large swaths of land?

my brother is law is one of these morons. He has lived in the same place for 3+ years and been to the airport dozens of times. His face is still glued to google maps every time he picks me up.
If google maps told him to drive into a lake he would. Sad how often comedy becomes reality.

Hmm, let's drive in the dirt, way better than a paved road.

Would've been better to turn around and go back to Vegas.

No kidding.  None of those idiots thought that leaving a paved road for a dirt road heading off into the desert with no end in sight was a bad idea regardless of what Google maps said.

Kinda, you can take the 15 down, or head to the 95 and exit searchlight or the 40, or you can head to pahrump and head through tecopa.

Or buy a truck and bypass all that get traffic. Wonder if they exited jean and took the dirt road towards state line.

I did a similar thing once while driving a brand new 911 from Atlanta to Seattle. Stopped in Vegas and on our way out I set google maps to avoid highways.  Google recommended a short cut and took us down this road outside of Vegas. First 10 miles were paved so everything looked normal. The next 30 miles were washboard gravel. Was going under 5 mph the whole time not wanting to damage the car or get any rock chips in the new paint.

The worst part was once we finally made it back to pavement, a couple hundred yards up the road was a railroad crossing. Open desert so I saw the train coming well before hand but figured no big deal, I'll just wait for it to pass while I took a piss.  Fucking train stopped blocking the road and sat there for 45 minutes.

Never occured to me to ask Google to reimburse my car wash

What a dumb fuck.  And she is stupid enough to admit this?

What is even more amazing is there were a bunch of dumb fucks.

Vegas to LA:

Get on I-15, south.

Make a quick stop at Blue Diamond Road for supplies….fish hooks and stuff.

Get back on I-15, south

Drive 3.5 - 4 hours.

Depending on where you live in LA, turn right on 210, 10, 60, or 91, well past anything that looks like a dirt road in the fucking desert.

I was on a rural state highway in southern MO last month.

Came to a place where the road was closed for a bridge repair.

The detour signage was a longer route than the google detour route by a good bit so I took the google route.

It was a fairly rough gravel road and while I didn't have any real problem in my truck it would have been sketchy for someone in car with low clearance.

I've done the alternatives before GPS and they all dump you back to the 15. Never really save any time.

If they got off at Jean and took the dirt road, you would think that it wouldn't seem right after 100ft on the dirt road and turn back around to the 15.

When the 15 is shut down at the dry lake bed for several hours they save you time, which was the reason for their delays.

First time I went to FT Knox I rented a car from the airport and used a TOM TOM to navigate to the front gate with no problems.

A few years later I had a phone with Google maps, and it sent me to a old rusted gate at the end of a cul-de-sac that was once a entrance to FT Knox.

They’re from LA.  Traffic delays are a part of their life.

At least they didn’t admit to taking Zzyzx Road thinking it was to a resort.

Jesus you'd have to really f'ing dumb to to be from LA and not know I-15 is the only real way back from vegas.

Only other options are south into AZ then 40 or up through the desert on two lane roads.

So if I’m understanding this right it send them down one of the dirt roads through Mojave and they decided to send it?

A lot of those roads got washed out over the summer. Lucky it’s cooler and they aren’t dead.

several years ago my wife ordered some furniture to be delivered. we lived out in the country and the furniture was being delivered from out of state. she took off work that afternoon because they were supposed to deliver. they even called and verified.

six hours later they showed up. dumbasses took a farming road when they got off the interstate and drove 10 miles through fields and woods where no houses are.

once i got home and they were still there, you figured out why they were dumb enough to drive that far down farming roads and not figure out that this might now be the way. they couldn't had a third grade education.

Funny thing, I was thinking about making a thread to complain about Google maps directions doing the exact opposite.

Since drivers in South Carolina apparently are completely incompetent and can't stop getting in accidents, I'll usually quick enter my daily commute in, just to see if there are any accidents I should try to avoid. More and more, it'll try to route me on the "green" route, shorter distance even if it's longer time, to "save gas".

This morning, there was a bad accident, it showed a 20 minute delay on my normal way in, but listed no alternate route. I looked at the map, said fuck that I know I can do better, and as soon as I turned off it's recommended route, it cut off 15 minutes from my travel time.

So yeah, fuck Google maps.
