I’m starting to build my own solar generator. Not nearly as complex as it sounds. Like all useful idiots, I’m learning from YouTube. I need to figure out how much power is getting used per appliance. I was looking at a tester with the brand name Kill-a-Watt. They have some terrible reviews though. Plus this only tests 120v standard wall plugs. I can deal with one that just tests plugs but I’d like to test 220 and wall switches LE like ceiling fans too. Any recommendations on what might work for me?

Not sure if that's an appropriate part for you, look at the specs and choose carefully. It gives you an idea of the class of parts that might work for you. It will need to be installed into an enclosure and wired safely. I built something similar for a client who was charging large battery banks.

I chose it over the kill-a-watt or other hobbyist type parts because it's built for industrial applications.

This...roll your own. If you want to be able to 120 & 240 you can probably come up with a safe way to make interchangeable pigtails for it so you can have any type of plug/receptacle you need.

Raspberry Pi power meter works great.  It will graph your consumption/production in real time.
