I like to make cardboard stuff with my boys. Nerf body armor, cars, tanks, etc... I’ve learned glue guns are like magazines, they have limited lifespan if you really use them. Any suggestions?
I have the ryobi cordless which is still running, but batteries for at the wrong time. I see some on Amazon with swapable nozzles. Any experiences? The cheap Arrow plug in glue gun from Lowe’s failed after a few hours of use. |

Why not just buy more ryobi batteries? That has to be one of the best hand tools I've ever paid $10, I never realized how absurdly useful it would be until I had it.

Don't have an answer for you but this is cool. Thanks for being a cool dad.

It’s the piece responsible for rotating the chamber. Clearly a poorly designed part with too thin of plastic used. I just use cheap glue guns and replace them when they go. I never have been able to find anything that stood out. |

I've got three boys, 3, 1.5, and 2 months and I'll need projects to work on with them. |

And damn it, I blissfully ignorant that cordless glue guns existed.
But now I want one for no justifiable purpose. |

I use hot glue all the time making my kid stuff. I cant find the glue gun so i just use a lighter or candle and melt the end. Its pretty fucking ghetto but i know my wife put the glue gun away some fucking where and i cant find it.

I got nothing but props for you medic9. You are making memories that your boys will remember for their entire life. I recently used a hot glue gun to make a StarWars Tusken Raider mask. I just used a Stanely from Ace hardware. Still works after sitting hot for hours. YMMV as it seems you don’t F around when it comes to hot glue gun projects.

Best we have ever found for building foam RC airplanes. Fine tip nozzle. Can usually find a 40-50% off coupon to show on your phone, good for 1 item per person. Project Farm on Youtube did a test of various brands of hot glue sticks https://youtu.be/hu8sJBctzFc |

Raider mask sounds awesome! We were trying to figure out how to do a mandolorian helmet but I am stumped by the curves. There are tutorials online but they seem like many hours of work. Usually I try to keep things a little simpler so they can help and stay somewhat engaged. The bigger and sloppier the project, the more they are in to it. |

I wonder if I could unleash the harbor freight heat gun on a stick of glue. Might need asbestos gloves though. |

You can get a couple of the knockoff 4ah batteries for under $65 on Amazon |

Use guns used by people that make a living with them.
https://ansonpdr.com/collections/pdr-glue-guns For cordless, the Trifecta is what I use. Combined with a Ryobi 9 ah battery I run it 9 hours a day, every day (on low 320 degrees, high runs 375 degrees). You can get adapters for Makita, Milwaukee, and Dewalt. 110-volt models the Tec guns are the bomb. The models you see with a set screw sticking out the back, have trigger stops. They also have large volume guns, capable of pushing 5 lbs of glue per hour, in both corded and battery. |
