........this is pretty heavily cropped, as the ball carrier is on the other side of the field, but pretty happy with my new combination of camera body/lens........still getting use to the weight of the lens, tho.

I handhold it.   It's stabilized and I keep my shutter speed up, but no joke, it gets pretty heavy by the end of the 3rd quarter.   I really shd try it on my monopod.

I've done it but ended up with tennis elbow. Try the monopod

Something that really helped with handholding is I made a "splinter forend" to go on the tripod mount. Great improvement.
