The Administration was selling off strategic reserves to dip the price of crude then took a victory lap. The news conference and photo-op is over. James Taylor put his guitar away. Gasoline is on the rise, you’ll pay it and like it. I guess you’ll just have to start burning smaller crosses, you fucking racists.

The futures market is attempting to price in reduced demand and the knowledge that Russian crude isn't off market, it is simply being sold at a discount to China and India. India is exporting refined product to the US. China is selling their crude production on the world market.

The physical market is still being squeezed. Two refineries are down for maintenance, removing 900,000 bbl a day from supply. Gas will rise and hold through October and start to ease in Novemer.

You fools need to pay more attention to Foxtrot.

Oil prices are down, gas prices are up, supply and demand.  The BP Ohio refinery is shut down due to an explosion last week.  Some other refineries are having issues and a hurricane is in the GOM.  Oil production rigs will be evacuated and some will be shut in.

If you want to see $12 a gallon gas, let a major hurricane impact coastal Louisiana or the Beaumont/Baytown/Corpus Christi Texas area.  Hell you may see $20 a gallon gas.

And there is the FJB factor that is hanging over our head.

We were down to 2.79 last week and now back up to over 3 in a week.

The weird part though (and I don't want to jinx it) is that diesel didn't go up a penny.

Last week, gas 4.70 diesel 5.50
This week, gas 5.60 diesel 5.50

THIS.

And the anticipated end of releasing oil from the strategic reserve because it will be empty.
And the Ohio refinery fire interrupting supply.

2.99 the last few times I filled up, last time being two days ago.

Georgia is still suspending their state gas tax, which I believe is about 25c.  Since we're below the previous price spike, I figure it's only a matter of time before they reintroduce it.  Hopefully they'll do it in stages rather than all at once.  Less of a shock on people.

Rogue Valley.  Drove to Tillamook in May, drove to John Day in June, I doubt there is a single station in Oregon more expensive than the Chevron I commute past

$3.89 in my little town in the Catskill Mountains of NYS but thirty miles east or west and they were in the $3.50's.

Diesel still dropping here, too. But it was really lagging behind the gas price drop anyways.

Biden tells companies running gas stations to bring down prices

Biden tells companies running gas stations to bring down prices at the pump and tears into 'junk fees' including overdrafts and cell phone termination that are 'hurting families'
President Biden addressed the White House Competition Council on Monday
His administration is battling a cost of living crisis as inflation stays high
He laid the blame with companies imposing what he called 'junk fees'
