Where'd you get it? How much?
Edit: Where if it was online, local retailer isn't really helpful to me. |

Definitely got a fresh punch in your man card there. Nice. Very nice.

I've cut a lot of trees but never used over a 20" bar. That's a beast. I'm jealous.

Probably could have fixed the old one with a seven dollar carb kit.

dammmm I didnt realize they were fuel injecting them these days

View Quote Bought it at a local dealer, not cheap but the Husquvarna 572XP was 2 pounds heavier and 5.8HP. The Stihl 462 was a couple ounces lighter and .7HP less. Cost $1219 plus tax. Easiest starting chainsaw I have ever used. It is the same power as the Stihl 661 we used at work, but 3 pounds lighter. |

How much easier starting is it with the fuel injection? Expensive parts replacement if something happens down the road? Give us some thoughts on it.

I did want a wrap handle, i am use to those from work, but none available, and unknown when they will be.

View Quote No saw parts are cheap, but the Stihl parts warehouse is about 15 mins from my local dealer. There is a "fuel primer" you pump up 8-10 times to build pressure in the fuel injection system. Use the decompression button and pull. Easier pulling than my old Farm Boss. When you shut it off the Fuel Injection pressure will stay for a few hours at least. Then an easy pull and it is running. Husquvarna may have less vibration but this beats the 660/661/460/362 easily. |

These saws have been used by Euro Trash wood cutters have been using them for the past 3-4 years, so hopefully the bugs have been worked out.

Gas hog from what I have been reading.
No way would I want fuel injection on a chainsaw in Bush Alaska. To many things to go wrong. Plus having to keep the fuel super clean is a pain. For $1200-$1300 i can buy quite a few regular saws. Or even hold my nose for one of the china copies. Also see husky is going the way of dealer only to tune some saws. |

That is glorious OP. I just got a 362CM and I want a second, larger saw...500i is on my list. Hope you like it.

One day my 10/10s will die and I'll buy a Stihl but that day is still in the future.

Good looking saw, I'm still rocking an MS362 with a 25" and 20" bars.

Hard to top a stihl. If I had to cut would fairly regularly, I’d have one. Got a great deal on a husqvarna 455 rancher some years back when they were phasing out and it is a nice saw that wil probably do me the rest of this life

My buddy above the Curtis pole yard just 'borrowed' my favorite 461 last week, so I know I'm never going to see it again. I've been lusting after the 500i since they announced. With the loss of the 461, I can damn near justify it.
The ¾ wrap and Western cover are something I always liked (and are on my other saws including the lost 461), but your 500i is pretty attractive as is. I can't imagine a better bar choice, either (and I like the two Sugiharas I have on 261s). |
|
Power head is 13.9, or the whole setup?
That's awesome, though, and I bet you could go bigger than 36. |
|
Nice
I went with the 462 due to the 500s newish status and possibilities of gremlins. Hope it serves you well! |
|
|
That's pretty damn impressive to say the least! How close is the weight? My 372XP handles like a sack of rocks compared to my little Echo CS400. That's even with a 20" Sugi lightweight. Might be time to trade up. I just wish they offered the same technology for 60cc class. I'd buy that tomorrow.

I like the light weight of the 500i,but I have to say I am disappointed with its performance.
I run about a dozen Stihls in my company and the guys were nagging me for a 500i.We run a mix of ported 461's and stock 661's. The 500i doesn't have the balls of either a 461 with the muffler opened up or a stock 661. |

I’d like to try one of those someday. I have an equal, a McCulloch Sp81 and I bet it’s nearly matched in every category and capability except fuel consumption. Stopped making them in 76 or something

Nope it was 22 year old Farm Boss that had a major melt down That is coincidental, I had a 22 year old 029 Farm Boss I couldn't get running (or keep running at high RPMs), finally took it to the dealer earlier this week and they told me the piston/cylinder is scared . I like your new saw |

Nice. My old 031AV is getting tired, I was looking at a 360 to replace it.
I was expecting a 270 or 290 to be in the OP. |

That’s a darn nice saw! Sthil pro stuff is the best today. We have one of the fuel injected cutoff saws at work. I don’t know how old it is anymore but it gets used a lot and hard. Thing has very obviously better throttle response and power then our newer carbed saw. Gets hard starting when it’s hot and sitting in hot sun. I actually try and set it in the shade. My guess is fuel is being vaporized someplace and trapped. It did have a problem once and I opened it up to fix, seen a bunch of wires and electronics and let my employer take it to someone. It that was years of daily use covered in concrete and block dust. Thing is a beast.

Had one for a few months now. Been running 462’s since they came out, and I don’t even pick them up any more. It’s an amazing saw. Our keep 28’s and 36’s on them.

Nice saw! Crazy how expensive they've gotten. My "big" saw is still a Pioneer 20" 1200A.

for back yard trimming and branch cutting I just picked up a Stihl MS171 for $199.
16in bar. for all the work I'll be doing it is a good co-tool with the Stihl Combi-tool pole saw. |
