Never been a fan of the glass fuse holders. Too many things to go wrong, as you found out.
I prefer these. Also because I despise glass/tube fuses.  Attached File |

A fusible link is actually the "wire" that goes from the plastic connector to the battery. Think of it as a slow blow fuse within the wire. Ford used to use them a lot back in the day but Fords had a black rubber "blob" molded onto the link. |

 Attached File Attached FileThis (and not double checking everything) caused my problem. New battery had posts switched. I mistakenly rotated the new battery, not closely checking terminals. The new battery was not labeled an “R” (reverse polarity) but I should have noted the old one was …and I should have been clued in by the slight difference in post diameters. Anyway, fired right up after replacing fusible link. |
