Seems to be a rash of them. Feel bad for those who paid thousands of $$$ in ADM...

Seems like a specific build range of 2.7l's got some valves that weren't treated properly. That's a pretty decent engine otherwise. The Ford Fusion Sport (2nd gen) was a pretty nice sleeper.
|
|
well it's a Ford and they have a pretty good history of having issues with their boosted engines.
|
|
Well damn, 41 engines with less than 7000 miles on the 2.7 Eco. Not good.

Quoted: well it's a Ford and they have a pretty good history of having issues with their boosted engines. View Quote It doesn't seem to be turbo related. More of a metal treatment issue with a supplier ? I remember that happening to GM with the early LS engines (Castek heads), and to Chrysler with the 5.7 HEMI. Shit can and does happens to any manufacturer on any line of engine. |
|
7000 miles is about time for a new one anyways. The '23s have heated and cooled power memory cup holders! Makes the current models virtually useless.

My 2.7 in the Ranger I had was a POS and developed a horrible buzz sound on any throttle application and you could hear metal scraping metal somewhere inside. This was 2k miles on it. I took it in they told me it's just a normal characteristic of the engine. And it's the "high pressure fuel injectors working"

My wife's hasn't yet. First day reservation, received August 6th. About 6k miles on it so far.

Bad batch of valves.
The engine is a pretty good design and very robust otherwise. |
|
|
Never own a modern Ford out of warranty.
There will be very few high mileage forced induction Fords not on their 2nd, 3rd motor rebuilds. |
|
Meh, it happens.
I own (or have owned) a couple of Mopar's more controversial engines over the past decade or so and never had the catastrophic failures they were 'known' for. Shit happens, but if the manufacturer is standing behind the product/warranty then what more could you ask for? |

Weird. I had the 2.7 in an F150 and had zero problems with it over 100,000 miles, with a lot of towing involved. It was a good engine for me.

Lots of talk there about Lemon Law-ing their new Broncos or selling them with new motors and hoping they get back the stupid high price above MSRP they paid...

Get you a few three or four hundred Ford trucks in your fleet, and no part of this will surprise you.

I love it when people with performance cars do something stupid and then all of sudden worry about every noise thinking they killed something. |

Anything made during the pandemic up to now, with supply shortages, you have to question quality.
If they can’t source a part or material, they have to change something that could be for the worse. |

View Quote FPNI. The 2.7 is probably Ford's best engine outside of the Super Duty line, and it's had a great reputation since introduced in 2015. But, no matter how good a design is, it doesn't mean anything if the manufacturers/suppliers get it wrong in production. You can ask Jeep 4.0L guys with the 0331 heads or Toyota guys with Dana frames about that one... |

Lots of reports of Broncos being delivered damaged from transport. Lots of electrical issues. Seems the rollout of the new Bronco has been a compete disaster for Ford.
